I am on a no diet diet now, after failing at several 'pop' diets...I just got tired of it all. So I kind of made up my own, sort of...I cool my jets with bread/pasta/potato etc. and have them on occasion, and go for the whole wheat versions..(whole wheat penne pasta,is a never again item, but the speg. is ok) I rule out the drive through and am fast becoming the queen of backing out of the drive through lane in the moments that I fall off the wagon. I'm walking at least 5-6days per wk. and work out w/a video when I don't walk. I'm eating smaller meals, cause I think my biggest problem is the amount I eat, rather than what I eat. I love my veggies, and I make sure I have at least 2servings of fish, not deep fried of course..and I'm not losing, and I'm hungry. Am I suppose to be really hungry all the time? I do strive for 'not full, just not hungry'..I was recently diagnosed with a slow thyroid, and am taking meds for it. Any clues here?...and just how hungry is a person supposed to get while 'non-dieting'..Thanks abunch
From another hypothyroid girl....I think it may be helpful for you to track your cals for a day.....how many times a day and how often are you eating. Also, I know that if I get too many carbs I do not lose no matter how much dieting I do.
I have to agree with above post. Try to track your calories on a few average days. And too many carbs makes one hungry girl AND i dont lose when i eat too many carbs.
The main tools i use to curb hunger are fiber and protein. EVERY meal has to have high fiber or high protien. Fiber will keep you full forever. Become a BIG label reader. Special K Protien plus is a great way to start the day.
I am rarely hungry actually and i am losing stedily, as long as i get my fiber and limit my carbs i am usually good to go and dont have any real cravings. I eat three meals a day with one 3 pm snack. And that snack is not empty carbs, that snack is string cheese or whole wheat pitas dipped in hummus.
Try upping your fiber and protien and make sure you are getting around 1600 cals a day. That is what i ate at your weight and lost about 1-2 pounds a week on average.
Big thanks ladies...and by the way, congratulations on your fabulous weightloss successes. When you say carbs, I'm assuming you mean bread/pasta/potatoes correct? Not veggies,or some fiber fruits..? I will take you up on the calorie counting thing..although I'm not sure what they would be..is there a website they gives basic calorie counts..One thing I should do now that I think of it is to weigh/measure..sometimes a cup looks really small. I think too what I need to decide is which mind-set I should follow..eating smaller more frequent meals,or sticking to the 3meals w/a snack etc. The whole dieting thing has confused the heck out of me.
It can definitely get confusing! Calorie counting is a good place to start. You can pretty much google any food and get an estimate on it. There are also cheap little books that will list the foods for you too. Weighing/measuring would be a good idea as well. Once you get the hang of your portion sizes you won't have to do it all the time. In terms of how you should space out your calories...that's a personal preference I think. I don't like eating 5 or 6 small meals because I like to have three solid meals with some small snacks. Maybe try out both techniques and see what gives you the most energy/leaves you feeling the most satisfied.

There are lots of websites that will help you track your calories - my favorite is spark people dot com (all one word in your browser of course) - it will track your calories, has a sister site where you can enter your own recipes & it will calculate calories per serving for you, and well as lots & lots of recipes. You need to sign up but it's all free. It will also help you track your exercise, generate a food & exercise program for you, track your daily nutrients as well as your calories - it's just a great site. And like I said, all free.
