Default Water

Ok So I have a question... what are all of your opinions about how much water you should be drinking a day?? Weight Watchers says 5 "glasses" (whatever that means, I'm assuming 8 oz glasses, so 40 oz water).. I've read you should drink at least 8 8oz glasses a day (or 64 oz), and I've heard other numbers like 128 oz.. etc.

What do you think and why? I'm just trying to make the healthiest "water" choice I can.

My personal opinion is that you should try to drink as much as possible. You'll see a difference right away. If you wear contacts you'll notice your eyes feel better, etc. Anyway, I TRY to drink a gallon a day. That's my days goal. I don't always make it but I usually come close. Either way, it depends on what book you read or who you're talking to as to how much you SHOULD drink. Set a goal for yourself and go with it. Careful, you'll be peeing ALL THE TIME.

128 oz in a gallon... what I do is I carry a quart gatorade bottle full of water all day long... somedays I only drink 2, some days I drink 4 or more... once your body gets used to the extra load of liquid, and uses it to flush out what your body is retaining, you won't be hitting the potty as much...lol, or at least that's the way it's worked out for me.... today, I'm going into POWER water mode...lol, drink as much as I can every hour without getting sick, because I'm in serious bloatsville

16 oz = 1 pint
2 pints = 1 quart
4 quarts = 1 gallon.

Therefore 128oz is equal to one gallon. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I feel as though I learned NOTHING in college

So like a gallon sounds extreme, huh? 128 oz's?????
Its not so hard or so bad . I keep a cleaned milk jug full of water and place my attention on getting it done, rather like a job or project that just really must get done..... and wha la it is gone!!!
It makes a huge difference in keeping your body cleansed and releasing the weight.
Good luck,
Pam

I read somewhere that you should drink 64oz a day plus 1oz for every 2 pounds you need to loose.
example if you need to loose 100 lbs you would need 64+50(100 divided by 2) for a total of 114oz a day.
I personally drink 160 oz a day. I have a 48oz insulated bottle for work that I fill twice a day (I freeze about 10 oz in it each night so it will be good and cold). At home I drink 4-16 oz bottles. I always keep at least 2 gallon in the fridge. I like my water cold. Sometimes I add a little lemon or lime juice.

Sometimes hunger is really just a need for something to drink.
Water also helps to tone your skin as you loose.

Water...isn't is a wonderful thing?!?!?

At least 40 oz are needed daily for the average adult.

For someone who is losing weight, much much more.

I average about 120 oz a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. But when it's less, I can feel it. Everywhere. And so does the scale.

When I first started out I laughed at those numbers.

But in time, it's no big deal. It comes natural and the bathroom runs become more and more less.

Default water

I have read in more than one place that the amt. of water you should drink every day should be half your weight in oz. ...i.e.,if you weigh 200 lbs. you should aim for 100 oz. every day. When I was at cyberdiet everyone was obsessed with drinking enough water!

Judy that is what i have heard also. but the numbers that Mrs Big Dawn was comming up with is also very close. the point being that to metabolize fat your body needs to be hydrated, and when we use fat for energy then we make more toxic wastes so we really need to drink enough to flush them out. . also the body may think we are hungry if we are dehydrated and even we have headaches when we are dehydrated so there are so many reasons to drink more than the 8 8oz glasses daily,

Well I ALMOST did it yesterday. I've been trying to get to 128 oz a day. I got 96 in by 9pm, but I wasn't going to the bathroom, so I didn't want to be up all night, so I quit.
Not doing so well today, only 36 oz so far, but I can catch up!!
