Default What Do You Want In A 5k?

The CHICKS IN POWER have told me that they are working on a 5K thread for all of us. I trust them totally with their decision on how to handle it.

What I want to know is ~

How often do WE want one?...a 5K....

To keep it FUN!

and INTERESTING!

that WE will ALL continue to do....

through thick and thin....

day in...week in....month in.... and out...holidays only?

to continue the TRADITION!! that WE all established....without....letting the excitement....

go away...

the excitement we had with ourselves...

our families....

our friends....

WHAT DO YOU WANT IN A 3FC~ 5K?

Let's see.....

Just brainstorming, but I would say once a month. I think weekly might get a little lost, but once a month would have some momentum behind it! If there is a holiday, then that would make it convenient. Like a 3FC Turkey Trot or something.

There could be themes and that would be fun, but it would need to stay open enough that all folks of all abilities and fitness feel welcome.

Maybe there could be a "Try Something New" 5k. People could bike it if they usually run, or walk in a brand new location. Just something to break out of habits and spread our wings.

For Halloween, we could wear costumes and post pictures (I know, I am so creative sometimes that it is scary! ).

Just a couple of thoughts.

I think once a month is good. That will keep momentum and excitement up if they don't happen too often.

Once a month is juuuuusst long enough in between & yet still often enough to have fun with.

Oh and I must agree about themes! I think that'd be a swell idea! A few ideas could be given for what to do, but people would have to mention how they're going to be "celebrating" their 5k for the month. Like... running with a stuffed animal duct taped to their head. (Note: Not recommended.)

This is something super small but that flier thing with all the different categories on it and the date of the race, etc... I loved that! Some of the categories were too funny, and in the days leading up to the race I put it as my desktop background to remind/motivate me

I agree that monthly is great and themes of some sort are fun! I'm one of those goofy people who usually wear something theme-related to my local 5k races... not quite full costumes, but CLOSE. For instance, there is a local race that has a "tortoise and the hare" theme and I wore rabbit ears over my visor and tied little plastic turtles to my feet (I'm fast in my head, but slow in reality! )

I think monthly would be great! I love the idea of themes. I loved the catagories last time! Anything to make exercise fun and different is great!

Thumbs up

Once a month, with themes, please...

There DEFINITELY has to be one for Hallowe'en...it's my birthday! I could just see myself jogging through the trick-or-treater-filled streets of my neighbourhood all dressed up ...how much you want to bet I'd get stopped 50 times by folks thinking I had mugged a kid for their candy

I also like the 'Try Something Different 5K'...we could use that one when two holiday-based ones come too close together, or maybe for a month when there isn't one...

What do I want in a 5K?
How 'bout free beer when we're done?!

Once a month works for me as long as there's an early bird special.

I'd definitely be up for a monthly 5k challenge, and themes - what a great idea!

I'm not terribly creative when it comes to themes (shoulda seen the bridal shower I had to plan, blech!!), but I'll go along with pretty much anything people suggest. Except for maybe Faerie's stuffed animal duct taped to my head. If only because it would HURT to remove it afterwards.

I vote once a month too.
LOVE the idea of themes.

I wish there was a way to see how we progress. Like if our times got better so we can all see what a great job each of us are doing.
