Default desperate to find a (veggie-friendly) diet...

hi everyone...it has been several months since i have posted (unfortunately i only seem to post once in a blue moon when i am feeling on the desperate side)...in any case, today i received the results of my yearly pcos/hypothyroidism-related blood tests--the good news is that i was able to bring my cholesterol into the normal range--the bad news is that the glucose test shows me now in the pre-diabetic stage. i am really not sure what to do. i am vegetarian, so i have a hard time low-carbing (and frankly, i do the carboholic emotional eating thing), and have tried weight watchers, atkins, the insulin resistance diet, the zone, and pretty much every other diet out there, without much success...i try to work out (and have even hired a trainer), but am not consistent...i honestly don't know why i can't get the discipline to once and for all (after living with pcos for 17 years) lose weight and get healthy.

so i am wondering if any veggie pcos'ers out there can give me some advice on a diet plan--should i try the veggie nutrisystem diet? should i go back to ww? i could really use some motivation...sorry for being so debbie-downer, and thanks for "listening"...

hey, reebs, just saw your post and registered to tell you this. have you tried food combining? it's a lot of veggies, little bit of fruit, you dont eat your carbs and proteins in the same meal. you eat carbs with veggies for breakfast then proteins with veggies for lunch then carbs or proteins for dinner, with veggies of course.

i've been on it for 10 days now and i really like it. everything else was too much meat for me, im not a vegetarian, but i don't like that much meat.

hope i helped and hope you'll enjoy it.

It's funny you should post this- about an hour ago I just threw my hands up and decided to go back to vegan. 3 months ago I started eating animal products and guess what? It's been 3 months since I've gotten my period last. And my ovaries have been on fire for the last 2 months... I feel alot of inflammation.

I am going back on the 'Eat to Live' diet by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I was on it before for a few weeks, actually felt really good, but didn't think I really needed to be that strict. So I was a vegan-fast-food junkie, eating lots of the processed soy goodies they sell in the frozen food section.

But enough is enough. Today I feel like there are two flames in my abdomen, and the only thing I've changed was eating meat and dairy (along with low carb, lots of fruits and veggies).

Dr. Fuhrman has completely reversed diabetes in hundreds of people. I strongly recommend you get his book from the library or buy it. It is very strict, eating LOTS of produce with limited oils and starchy foods, and is vegan... but if I can just stick to it I remember feeling amazing and not hungry.

Anyway, that's what I'll be doing for the next week at least and tracking my progress. If you'd like to pair up with me we can try it together. And welcome back!

Another veg plan is McDougall - you can read about both of the plans in the Veggie Forum. I think most of the chicks there also eat more whole foods and 'good carbs'. A great cookbook is the Carb Conscious Vegetarian.
