Default crisp, refreshing snacks for the new warm weather!

Hi all! So it was in the 80's today in San Diego - the weather is officially "nice"! I find it easier to eat less-caloric foods when the weather gets warm, since I crave cold, crisp veggies, and not as much "comfort food". What is your warm weather snack? I usually like tortilla chips and salsa, which are okay, but I can put away more than the 12 chip serving -- easily. I'm replacing that snack (for now) with an entire, sliced up red bell pepper and some Wishbone light ranch. A medium red bell pepper is about 30 calories, and 2 tablespoons of the Wishbone light ranch is only 40 calories! A whole plate of juicy strips and dip for only 70 cals - yummy! What do you all crave in the spring?

In warmer weather I love real tomatoes (not those jokes at the grocery store) with balsamic vinegar, fresh cracked pepper and capers.

I agree, it really does get easier when the weather gets warm. Except when we hit the local bar and grill for their yummy margaritas on the deck! I'll be trying to avoid that in favor of these summer staples:

oranges
raw green beans
baby carrots, cauliflower, etc. with yogurt dip (just use regular dip mix)
big salads
greek yogurt with strawberries
popsicles
cottage cheese with pineapple chunks

That's all I remember. Here in MA it's been eons since we saw the sun and it's just finally arrived! I'll have to get into my seasonal routine for it to come back to me.

I know a lot of people here eat frozen bananas and grapes, too. I haven't tried that but I think I will soon.

Yellow Bell Peppers are my new favorite year round!

Love a crisp cold Apple or Pear

I never met an orange I did not like!

I like to bury myself in berries.

I hope the honeybees are happy this year!

I'm with Heather! I love frozen grapes! So whenever they look good and are on sale at the grocery store I stock up and throw them in the freezer.

audrey- I do miss the California weather! My favorite warm weather snacks, are cold watermelon, cherries, and peaches. Yum! I also love myself an apple with low fat caramel dip. I also love carrots with hummus, or low fat ranch dip. I love anything with salsa too.

If you want chips and salsa the Guiltless Gourmet makes baked black and blue corn tortilla chips, you can have a lot more than 12 and they are delicious. Also, Tostitos makes multi grain chips now too! I LOVE frozen yogurt with fresh fruit! There is a place out here that uses all organic products and fruit from the farmer's market when making theirs...It is AMAZING!!! I also love fresh fruit slices in sparkling water. When I was at the salon this weekend they had grapes, apples, oranges and lemon all squeezed and floating in the water...mmm! Cold fresh fruit, especially strawberries! I make homemade fruit and yogurt salad on hot days as well, yogurt, apples, grapes, pears and nuts...YUM!

Fruit smoothie of some sort. Also like to use frozen strawberries as "ice" in a glass and pour cold cranberry-blend type juice over top...by the time you finish your drink, the strawberries are all slushy and sweetened from the juice...yummy! Lately, a flashback from my childhood: cottage cheese with peaches.

Snap peas (real ones, not the freeze dried ones)! You can eat a lot of snap peas for the calories in one serving of chips. They are especially good if you have local farmers' market where you can buy them fresh. They are so crisp and sweet that I love them all by themselves, but they would also be good with salsa or hummus.
