Question Im on Atkins?

Hi i'm new! I have been lurking for a while but just thought I would actually say something hehe
I currently way 23 stone (eeeekkkk!) but I am a dress size 24 as i’m 5'11 and i am currently doing Atkins, i started last week and have lost 7lbs this week!
I have a couple Q's and i was hoping someone could help me out? Firstly i have been doing exercise by just walking and more walking, but it’s only been a week and to be honest i’m bored by it already.. does anyone have any ideas on how i can exercise more efficiently? (ps. my local gym is closed till mid may for refurbishment so that’s out!)
Another Q is does anyone know what vitamins i should be taking on Atkins? I am currently just taking multi vitamins one tablet each day but i am feeling excessively tired by about 5:30?
And finally i am going on holiday in the last week of June and so i really want to be 20 stone by then as i have a lot of clothes, which fitted me, when i was 20stone but won’t fit now.. is this possible or am i kidding myself?

Thanks for all your thoughts everyone!

Well, my advice would be that if you are doing Atkins, follow the recommendations in his books for supplementation.

Hi KIMBERLEY . . . . . . I'm not a regular in this (the 300+ club) forum, but just happen to be one of the first ones to see your post, I guess. I'm sure a lot of the others will be along shortly.

In the meantime, I just wanted to mention that there is an Atkins Forum . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=226 . . . on the site and that might be a good place for you to ask some of those questions.

There is also a UK Forum . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=75 . . . that you might wish to have alook at, too.

Have a good evening, Chickie . . . glad that you found us . . .

I don't know anything about the supplements, although if you're really tired is it possible that you're not eating enough. I don't know much about Atkins, but you could try asking that same question in the low carb forums (not sure if there is an Atkins, but there might be).

On the exercising, walking can be made more interesting by adding some music, or picking a different route. Your local library may have some workout type DVDs, or record something from the television. I admit that I have a treadmill, so I'm probably not the person to tell you how to make it more interesting. I like (even love) mine. You could try changing up your walking routine depending on your level of fitness. Try walking as fast as you can for a short distance (jogging even) then go back to a slower pace. Then repeat for a few times.

You've done well so far, as most people do when starting into a new way of eating. If I remember correctly 1 stone = 14 pounds. So 42 pounds in 11 weeks is probably pushing it, but you'll know as you get closer to the date. You may find that some of your things will fit (as most clothing is not really standard). Even if you don't get that much off in 11 weeks, you're still going to be lighter, and feel better, aren't you?

Good luck with your new journey.

(see, I knew someone would find the forums for you!)

Congratulations on your weight loss!!!

Dr. Atkins recommends taking a good multivitamin without Iron, 200-600 mcg chromium picolinate, an EFA (Essential Fatty Acid) supplement should include GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) - primarily found in primrose or borage oil & omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil or flaxseed oil. If you have sugar cravings, you should be taking 500 mg L-glutamine before each meal. If you previously ate a lot of carbohydrates, L-glutamine will ease the transition to controlled carb eating. To prevent constipation, particularly on the Induction phase of Atkins, you should be supplementing one or another form of fiber such as wheat bran or psyllium husks.

Walking is a wonderful form of exercise! Have you ever heard of Leslie Sansone's program called Walk Away The Pounds? It is a fabulous in home walk aerobics program. It incorporates hand weights, resistance band and stretchie band. The program goes from beginner to intermediate to advanced. I own about 10 of the dvd's and I love the program. I also love walking outside in the nice weather

You're doing great...keep up the fantastic work!! You are off to a wonderful start! You CAN do this!!!

All the best to you!!
