Default Hi Everybody!
I just joined 3FC and was really glad to have found this site!

I'm getting close to my 50th birthday and have been overweight since I was about 30. Over the past 3 years I have been taking medications for high triglycerides and lipids. Both parents are Type II diabetics and I can see my future without a crystal ball. There are 3 main reasons I want to loose this excess baggage. 1-to be healthier, off the medications & have energy to do normal things, 2-to be able to buy clothes I like instead of ones that sort of fit, 3-to see what I am supposed to really look like (I've been overweight for so long that I have no good idea of what I should look like; I sure don't recognize myself from my old photos either!)

Hi there GAMBARU . . . . . . you've definitely come to a great place for lots of support as you travel the long and often bumpy road to better health and fitness, Chickie.

You're definitely wise to read that handwriting on the wall and get your system into a better place, kiddo . . . I'm type II Diabetic and wish I'd known 20 years ago some of the things I know now. We do have a Diabetes Support Forum at 3FC and I'd love to have you come for a visit in there. I'm also the moderator of the Age 50+ Forum, and . . . not to rush you or anything . . . but you might like to come and visit us in there too.

Hi, I'm glad you found this site. You will get lots of support here. Lots of wonderful people. I know you're not quite 50 yet, but come on over to the +50 group and check us out. I post on the Golden Girls site and they are all supportive, caring people.

hi and welcome! browse around and I"m sure you'll find several appropriate places to post, ask questions, brag, or whatever. I just turned 52, and though I am not flirting with diabetes, it lurks as a possibility, I know, as long as I'm so overweight. I share your thoughts about not really knowing my body anymore -- I miss that me! I like me!! So I am really enjoying exercising again. Have a great weekend,
