Hi! My name is Moni. I am so excited to have found this place.
My story: I used to weigh 128 lbs and have a body fat of 15 - 17%. However, for the past two years, I have been dealing with SEVERE depression. I now weigh about 178 and have a body fat of 53.3%. I hate feeling this way!
In the past month, I have started kickboxing about 3 times a week and changing my eating habits. I've noticed a lil change in the way my jeans fit, but absolutely no change in the scale, except for it increasing by about 3 lbs.! UGH! I know it may be muscle, but still is disappointing. I am about to start 5k training and CrossFit training. I am open to any experts words of wisdom.
hi moni, and welcome! There is a separate forum for depression & weight issues; I"m sure you'd find lots of useful discussion there. Browse around -- you might also like the age-related or exercise pages.
I'm pretty new too : ) but have found this "place" REALLY supportive. I've lost all of 2 1/2 pounds so far : ) ! ! ! but I'm excited all the same.
take care,
anita
. . . You've definitely come to the right place, Chickie . . . lots of support around here.
You are doing great with the exercise but don't lose sight of the fact that the great mysterious "they" say that (just like so many other things), it's 80% managing the food intake.
Good Luck . . . we'll all be here for you whenever yu need us. . .
Thanks, Guyunna! I didn't know about the Depression forum. Thanks for the info. I will definitely check that out.
Hi! Meowee! The diet thing is my hardest thing. I was born & raised in the south. "Fried" is one of our food groups! *lol* Thanks for the welcome! Btw, I have 3 DSH cats & 1 Rat Terrier, or as we lovingly refer to all of them, 4 "fur babies".
HI TAYLOR . . . to you also. Glad to hve you with us and on your two pounds.
Unfortunately, because of a few thoughtless spammers that only join groups like this to promote their own agendas, we have found it necessary to restrict the ability to get a signature line, and therefore a weight tracker, until you've been a member for at least 30 days and have made at least 30 posts.
Just keep on posting, chickie, and the time will whiz right on by. See you later . . .
MONI . . . I'm the complete opposite . . . okay on the eating part; but I break into a sweat just thinking about exercise.
My Khat Khiddies consist of 2 DSH -- that's Purrecious, the Calico, peering at you from my Avatar; 1 DLH; and two very stand-offish and semi-wild purebred Bengal Leopard cats -- they are litter mates and really only like each other.
