Default Trying to Get Motivated

Hello!

I'm not new to weight loss and I'm not new to 3FC either. I actually used to visit this site regularly back in '01 and '02 and it helped me lose weight. I went from 230 to 179 during that time. Since then the weight has slowly crept back on and I recently had an adorable baby boy! Towards the end of my pregnancy I weighed over 250 lbs. I sort of stopped weighing myself at the end though. But in the last 2 months I have lost most of the weight I gained during the pregnancy, but I'm still overweight (226 lbs!). Since my son was born, we've been taking lots and lots of pictures, and sadly, I'm in almost none of them because I don't want to see my fat self in the pictures. The other day I did catch a glimpse of myself in one of the pictures and realized how grossly overweight I am and how disgusting I look. It was a depressing, but badly needed eye-opener.

I've taken a step back to think about what I need to do to make some changes. I look back at my past success in losing weight and realized that the biggest and most consistent changes I made back then were:
  • Visiting this website and posting on a regular basis
  • Exercising 5 days a week, no matter what.
  • Drinking half my weight in water
I was also very careful about what I ate, but I did make mistakes from time to time. I also remember that I reminded myself constantly that I would not see immediate results.

I need help to get back on track. Anyone part of any motivating groups, threads, challenges, etc??? I'd love to get re-acquainted with things around here.

Thanks!!

Welcome back to the site! I love it so much - it keeps me motivated reading about other people are going through the same things I am.

There's a Biggest Loser Challenge coming up that you can sign up for!

I'm going to be new to the challenge too and am looking forward to it!

That sounds great! I love stuff like that -- keeps me interested. Maybe you can tell me about it... How does it work?

I actually don't really know how it works since it will be my first time, but I'm sure there is info in the thread and there will be an FAQ up soon...I'm throwing caution to the wind... I know there are three teams and I assume you have challenges and weigh-in weekly...

I took some pictures when I started the weight loss but waiting to develop them when I hit goal weight! Sorry!

Sounds good -- we'll all do it together then!

Yeah, it's funny how we're so diligent at watching the scales when we're trying to lose weight, but forget to weigh in when we're not on track. Then all of a sudden, one day you step on the scale and you're 20 or 30 pounds heavier. How did that happen??? It took a couple of years, but don't know how I could have allowed that to happen after so much hard work and dedication. I'm disappointed in myself.
