Thumbs up hot yoga: have you tried it??

I've done hot yoga on and off for the past couple months and I've just gotta say that I love it!! It makes you sweat like mad and the heated room definitely makes for a challenging workout. My local studio offers like five classes every day which are all drop-in and I find it's really easy to incorporate into my routine.

Does anybody else do hot yoga??
If you haven't tried it, I totally suggest everyone experience a hot yoga class once.

I HATE Bikram's and "Hot" Yoga.

I don't like the heat in general and overheat very easily.

Also, exercising in high temperatures can raise blood pressure and result in heat exhaustion and dehydration, two things I'd like to avoid.

That's not to say it's not good for others (like you!). It's just not healthy for me and a lot of other people.

I tried it once and LOVED it ... I was a bit worried about the heat factor because I was getting hot flashes at the time and there's nothing like double whammy heat to make you want to ... But I truly enjoyed it ...

There are no classes that I know of that are offered in my small town so my g1f and I go to Ottawa.. Actually I should check the local Yoga studio just in case I'm wrong ...

I have mixed feelings about hot yoga. I'm going to the 4pm class at my local studio today, so obviously I practice hot yoga. I think it delivers a great workout, it forces me to hydrate well before and after class, and eat well (or else I feel terrible during & after class if I've eaten poorly that day). It helps my flexibility and I feel a bit "detoxed" after class from all of the sweating.

However, I don't like Bikram himself. I don't like him so much so that I kinda hate the fact that I give him money by attending Bikram yoga classes. I think he's arrogant, materialistic, and litigious. Not qualities I admire in people, and certainly not qualities I expect to find in a "yogi."

But its a great workout and I really should attend classes more frequently (I usually only make it in to class once a week).

SoulBliss, have you taken a Bikram class? The first few classes are the worst, as far as getting used to the heat, but after the first few classes the heat didn't even phase me. If I hydrate well and take an Emergen-C about 30 minutes prior to class, I feel great.
