I have shoulder length, very thick, dark brown/almost black, one layer hair with bangs -- I have a VERY round face at this point, but when I lose weight I can't wait for it to "cave in" a bit!!!
I want to get a hair cut tomorrow, something I can style nicely, quickly -- but my hair is so thick it goes flat quickly so I think I need layers or something -- I've attached a picture I found on google -- do you think it would make a round face look like a pumpkin??? You know the hairdresser will not be much help, she doesn't have to walk around with a yucky cut after I leave!!
here's my pic from yesterday, i did the same thing. I would go to someone with lots of experience. That hairstyle might work. However, talk to your hair dresser. I originnally wanted to go shorter, but we found that my thick hair has a tendency to stick out when too short....so i have to go either really really short or what I ended up getting..and loving. It looks like a cute cut but i worry about the roundness of your face. I have a very round face too..and that's what i expressed to my hair dresser. In all honesty...if your hair dresser truely is a good one..she/he would not want you to have a bad hair cut because it reflects badly on them. They really are trying to help you and want you to feel good.
The cut is cute, but I can't help a lot. I would love to have thick hair that could be cut into cute styles
I do think if you did something similar to the picture, but a little longer, it would be better on a round face.
Good Luck!
Maggie
That looks very nice on you -- definite option. Very nice donation -- I have tried multiple times to grow mine out for locks of love and end up cutting before the end of summer because I can't stand the hair on my neck in the heat!!! I just go to a "generic" shop to get my hair cut, and it always seem to be a blue haired woman who looks hung over talking about how her boyfriend ticked her off that I get when I want to do something drastic!!! I think tomorrow I'll cough up some serious cash and get a real cut somewhere
I got my long hair cut into that exact style when I was at my high weight of 215 - with a very round face. It worked well for me. I have very fine hair, with absolutely no curl and used a curling iron to get the "mussy" look. If you don't like it, you can always stuck it behind your ears or curl it under. It is a versatile style.
BTW - I donated mine as well. I never regret it, and I still wear it short

shleby...i highly believe you pay for what you get. I know there are some good hair dressers working for the cheeper hair places..but in honesty...i've found its worth the money to go to someone with a little more cost...they have a tendency to listen to what you want...have the experience to give you what you want. Good luck. I want to see pics when you're done. I hope you like it.
gator girl i really like that cut on you.. it makes you look younger and i bet its nice to get all that extra weight off your neck.. i too have long thick hair and it drives me insane.. but my hubby loves it so im not allowed to cut it off
Shelby i think that looks like a really nice cut and hey hair grows back if you decide you dont like it ..
Height: Tall enough for my feet to reach the ground
Gatorgal, I just got that SAME haircut on Tuesday! OMG how funny. I didnt know if I would like the shaggy bob (as I call it) but I have had more compliments since Tuesday night that I fell in love with it immediately!
Seems like similar haircuts are popular these days! I got all of my hair chopped off recently (my hair is what it looks like in my avatar). Basically it was modeled after Katie Holmes' messy bob. It has layers and a side swept bang. I style it by putting mousse in it, blow drying it, applying a soft styling wax to the ends to "pick" out the layers (just a tiny dab will do ya!), and then hairspray to scrunch it and make it have more body and look a little messier (although most days I do without the wax and hairspray). I'm also a believer in you get what you pay for when you get a haircut. The only haircuts I've REALLY been happy with have all been from rather upscale salons... I think the key to making the cut look good on a rounder face would be to make sure that the longest layer of hair would be a teence longer than your chin.

Thanks for the help ladies -- spent way too much money today but it was well worth it. As soon as I get a chance I will have a pic to post -- my husband kept the kids while I was gone so I got the wash, cut, dry and style -- I can't remember the last time I got "the works" because the kids are always with me -- even bought every hair care product she recommended. I love the cut and hope I can at least come close to what she did with it.
shelby...that's AWESOME!!!! i know its hard to shell out money for hair care, but honestly...you are happy with your hair and that's all that matters...can't wait to see pics.
