Smile new... again!

Hi everyone,
I was a regular on this site a couple years ago when I successfully lost 30 pounds (from 160 pounds to 130.. my goal at the time). I have since put back on some of the weight (I'm back up to 150) and I have slipped back into nasty habits, so here I am, starting again!
One of my best friends is getting married in December in Cuba, and I want to be able to feel great for the trip and look cute in a bikini too! I'm also dreading getting back into summer clothes (EEEEEEK!) so I figure it's time to get back on track.
I'm 28 years old and a vegetarian. I'm really hoping to get to know some new people here and perhaps find a few people to buddy up with.
Anyway, nice to meet you all!

Hello and thanks so much!
I have not always been a vegetarian. I stopped eating all meat about six years ago after taking a health course for a newspaper column I was writing. I saw what meat does to a person's body and I was disgusted. I researched it more and discovered the poor treatment of animals and I couldn't bring myself to eat it any more. I don't miss meat at all.
It really isn't difficult to find protein.. in fact I think that's one of the biggest myths out there about vegetarianism! There are lots of really good foods that have plenty of it. If you're interested in becoming a vegetarian or vegan, I recommend checking out PETA's website. They have a lot of good info on food for new veggies. If you have any other questions about it I would be happy to answer them for you!
Good luck and welcome!!

Wow, that's great!
Not a problem at all. If there is anything else you'd like to know, just give me a shout!
I know a lot of people think they could never go without meat, but there are so many great alternatives out there now. Plus, I find a lot of people actually miss the dips and sauces that go along with meat and not really the meat itself. For instance, I thought I really missed ribs and wings but what I was actually craving was the sauce. Funny, really.
Anyway, best of luck to you! Hope you enjoy veggiedom!
