Plastic Surgery (Breast lift/reduction)??
I have a question for you all. Have you or would you ever consider a breast reduction/lift once you are at goal and maintain for a while?
I told my hubby that when I turn 40 I want to have this done, I have heavy breast, and big too, so obviously they are not where mother nature intended them to be anymore..lol I would love to be a nice full "B" cup and have them put back where they belong. He didn't seem to object to this, maybe because he has like 4 years until he would have to worry about it..lol
Have you have this done or considered it? Please share your experiences with me...thanks!
I had a breast lift with implants a few years after I reached goal. Sadly, I lost absolutely everything in my chest when I lost weight -- except for skin! I had plenty of empty skin!
I talked with a plastic surgeon about just getting a lift but he pulled up the loose skin and showed me that I would be flat as a pancake, literally. I had always been anti-implant but realized it would be the only way that I could look feminine in clothes. So I opted for one of the smallest size implants and they still took me from a 36AAA to 36C.
I'm 100% satisfied with the results of both the lift and implants and would do them again in a heartbeat.
If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them. When you feel like you're getting close to doing it, you can consult with several plastic surgeons and find one who you're comfortable with. Don't forget to ask to see before and after photos!
I had a breast lift and reduction about 3 years ago and my advice is this...don't wait until you lose the weight. I wish I would have gotten mine done when I was 18 .... but back then my parents wouldn't here of it. I wasted so much time being uncomfortable, damaging my shoulders/neck/back, not being able to wear normal clothes...etc. This surgery has been the most life changing thing I have done to date and the best. You can't explain to people what it's like having big breasts, because you always hear comments like..."I wish I had your problem or I'll take some." Yeah right, I'm sure they wouldn't want the indented shoulders, the back pain, the rashes, the inability to find clothes that fit, spending more than $40 to get a bra that fits, the embarrassment....etc.
I would love a lift - the combination of weight loss + age has given me saggy boobs. I am terrified of a loss of sensation though, so I doubt I would ever do it. Not to get too graphic with you guys, but I really like that um...aspect? and I don't think I would be happy living without it. I had some extensive jaw surgery in 99 that left me with permanent numbness in my lower jaw and lips - I couldn't handle that in the boob region!

The problem I have is that I was once 250lbs and a 44DD, well I lost a bunch of weight and went to a 36C, not bad...not real perky, but doable...well then I gained up to 215lbs again and back to a 38DD. Well, I have HEAVY breasts, so that part doesn't help to begin with. Then to have gained/lost weight over the years adds to it...so now I teeter between a 36DDD and a 38DD.
I also have people say "it must be nice to have large breasts". I tell my hubby flat out if he likes them that much he can carry them around for a few years..lol
Thanks for sharing, please tell me more if you have have something like this done, or considered having it done....
My sister had a reduction done a number of years ago. She hadn't lost weight or anything, but very large breasts run in our family. She said it was absolutely worth it -- from the moment she woke up from the surgery, she was laying on her back, and said that she could instantly tell that it was easier to breathe. She'd slept on her side most of her life because of the breast issue. The surgery also gave her instant posture improvement because her back muscles were used to holding up a lot more weight!
I've thought about having a reduction for years (I wear a 30FF now that I've lost weight -- would love to be a C instead), but I've avoided it because I'm worried about being able to breastfeed my future children (I don't have any yet!), and I wouldn't want them to just get messed up again from having kids.
It's really true that people don't understand how much trouble having big breasts is. OTOH, I have a couple very skinny friends who have complained that people don't understand how much trouble being skinny is. I guess we all just want to be in the middle range.
Isn't it ironic that the ones who have way too much boobage never seem to lose it with weight loss? And the ones who hardly had any to begin with seem to lose it all? Life sure isn't fair!

Well, I have "way too much" but when I am at goal weight, I am a very small (mostly skin, really ) C cup which looks and feels TINY to me! I wish there were a way I could keep the breasts and lose the REST of the fat!
I used to visit breasthealthonline all the time! It's a great site. In fact, having large breasts is really what spurred my weight loss in the first place. I really wanted to have a reduction but finally decided I'd better lose weight first to see if that would bring my size down. Today my size varies in what bra I'm wearing, but I have some that are 36D and others that are 32DDDD. I'm a lot smaller than I was and a lot more satisfied and less-conscious about my figure. Sometimes I'm even glad I have a chest! I'm glad I didn't have a reduction because I'm afraid I would have ended up too small for my frame. Plus I wouldn't want to risk the loss of nipple sensation, as Glory said so well. I've heard that some women lose weight in their breasts and others don't. I think you just have to wait and see but IMO it's rare to see a woman of normal weight with abnormally HUGE breasts.
Pam
I have been thinking about it since last year. Technically, I am not that huge, I wear a D cup (although I should mention that I never had a professional bra fitter determine what size I should wear, so maybe instead of 85D I would be something completely different) but my boobs definitely lost the fight with gravity a long time ago.
And what's worse, since last year, I started to have a problem with yeast infection under my breast (I think it is related to yeast infection) - basically the skin fold between the boob and the chest) and they are quite painful (the bra chafes the spot) and take a long time to heal. It started last year in summer because I sweat a lot when I do any physical activity (probably related to my perimenopause and high blood pressure). Now, that I started with the treadmill, the skin problem raised its ugly head again.
I find it nearly impossible to find anythng that fits my chest (most clothes, even in "fat" sizes, are for flat chests only. I don't understand who designs them!

Tomato-I totally hear you. I think I may in the next few months go into a plastic surgeon and see what they suggest for me...just to kinda feel it out a little. Maybe they will say it is better to do it now rather than wait a few years, who knows...

Yes, that's what I was thinking myself, after I finished posting. I thought I should start looking into it, so that I am better informed. A girl I know had it done (hers was covered by OHIP because she had back pain) but I lost touch with her. I should probably ping her and ask where she had it done and book a consultation.
Oh, the joy of big boobs! (not to mention one being significantly bigger than the other LOL)
Tomato, you'll need a referral from your family doctor, though you can tell him which plastic surgeon you want to go see, if you want the surgery covered by OHIP and it sounds like you would be a good candidate for it.
I had mine done in 2000, it was great. I've never regretted it, though I will admit, I do have a loss of sensation still sometimes. It's something to think about.
I had one at 16 im 19 right now and i gained weight so they grew back not alot but obviously they look bigger since of my weight gain. but i loved my surgery no pain, my scars arnt bad at all, i was very active right after and i mean the next morning at the hospital (i had 2 stay overnight since i was a minor) i felt fine and they looked amazing lol
