Default Motivation Tips

Good evening girls! So i have been slacking alot with my diet mostly because my bf has been slacking veryyyyyy badly with his! and i know i shouldnt well 2night we had gone out to movies n dinner hadnt done that in a while and it was nice cause we had a horrible fight last night that all i can do was lay in bed cry and throw up! well sadly he has as well as i have gained alot of weight. but hes already reached the 300lb mark and hes only 20 years old and im really worried about his health, he is NEVER ever sick and 2day i find out he is to the point that he was taking medicine and he is TOTALLY AGAINST medicine! well he was saying on the way home how horrible he felt and that nothing fit him and that the weight is finally getting to him, that he doesnt even have motivation to go play sports like he always does! Its horrible im a huge beach bum obviously im uncomfortable going to the beach right now, but i asked him 2 go with me today and he said no way in **** till he lost weight and it sucks cause im craving the ocean living in miami and all its a big part of my life, even being intimate is starting to be a problem i dont even like taking off my shirt in front of him nemore. Well im going to stop blabbing and get to the point i know when hes motivated i am to because we help each other out! so does any one have any ideas or tips i can do to keep him motivated? we both need to lose weight before april20 his sisters wedding and my bday 6 days later! so help girls

Call me five but.. stickers. I love them. I buy the teachers cheapo standard pack at the grocery store or wherever with the blue green red gold silver thing. I give myself a red each day for doing 30 minutes of cardio, a green for eating right, a blue for strength training, a silver for stretching, and a gold for doing something beyond the norm, or hard, or whatever. Maybe you guys could "racE" eachother to see who can get the most stickers in a certain time frame? With a nice juicy prize on the line?

I love the sticker idea it might acctully motivate me I will have to try it.

As for the BFI am afraid I cant help much but I know how you guys feel I am a stay at home mom so I make all the meals including my boyfriends sack lunch and it makes me so angry when i have put time and effort into making meal plans and sticking to them and then i find McDonalds in his work van or catch him throwing away a DQ cup. I feel like I am wasting my time and energy but I know he does not lose weight I will lose him he has had 2 minor heart attacks allready and he is 37. not to mention he smokes 3.5 packs a day. i guess i have to remember that I have to get healthy and stay motivated even if he is not cause if something does happen to him I have to be able to take care of our son.

Do you guys go shopping together? Maybe make grocery shopping your "date night" and look at it as something fun instead of a chore! Make a list ahead of time, with any input he wants to give (like his favorite veggies, etc...) and then stick to it! Each of you can pick out one treat for the week "spontaneously" at the store....and what about going to Safeway (they have Starbuck's here) and getting tall, non-fat lattes (or a Grande to share ) to drink while you shop?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I love going to Safeway with my hubby!! You could even grab dinner before, or a movie after, to make it a little more exciting...but maybe if your BF/Hubby is involved and sees all the healthy options there are and is able to pick what he actually likes, he won't be tempted to swing through the drive-through?? And, for those times he does, help him make a list of the "better" options at a few of his favorite places. Two grilled chicken soft tacos at Taco Bell are a "better" option and with an apple, FF yogurt and some carrot sticks, you aren't doing half-bad

Sad to say, but I think it would be pretty hard for you to make him motivated, he's kinda gotta make the decision on his own to get healthy. That said, it sounds like he's not happy with where his weight is, so he'd probably agree to take some baby steps towards better health which might get him to make other changes in the long run. Here are a few things I can think of that would make a difference:
Swap full fat condiments with his meals for low cal, or reduce the amount he uses
Park on the far end of parking lots (so he'd have to walk further to and from his car)
Eat brown rice instead of white, whole grain bread instead of white, baked or grilled meat instead of fried
Take the stairs instead of the elevator
Skim milk instead of whole
Stop drinking sugar sodas, switch to diet or drink coffee/tea instead

Maybe you can get him to make a list of healthy foods he likes, and you guys can start eating those meals more often. Maybe invest in some spices to cook with too, they don't generally add a lot of calories to food but definitely make blander foods more palatable. I also keep my fridge stocked with jalapenos and onions to add to various meals to give em a kick. I hope at least some of these ideas help! I know myself its hard to get motivated to start getting healthier, but once I start losing pounds and seeing the benefits it usually is a lot easier to keep it up!
