Arrow On the road AGAIN

So i'm not new to the diet world but i just never have been able to stick to something cuz... well i don't know for sure. I know that i struggle with slight anxiety/depression and that sets me back anytime i take a step forward. So i'm looking to anyone who is or has struggled like me that can give me some advice and help!
I'm starting an apprenticship as an electrician in june and am scared to start being so overweight and a girl! So anyone out there has some good techniques, advice, tips, encouragement... anything will help! thanks!

Hiya Electricianchic

First you may want to check out the Depression and Weight Issues forum area. Lots of people in the same boat.

The problem with diets (as I'm sure you've noticed) is that we tend to think of them as temporary. We either can't stick with them for very long, or even if we do lose weight we trick ourselves into thinking that we can "go back to normal". We have to start completely over. Forget dieting. How about changing the way you eat & live forever?

Select one thing that you can do tomorrow that you will be able to stick with. Will it be eating more fruits & vegetables? Will it be drinking water instead of juices & sodas? Will it be taking a five minute walk? Select a positive change, and then do it. Just for one day.

After that day is over, try to do the same again the next day... and the next. Pretty soon you'll have a couple of days of a really healthy change. Then you might want to step it up by changing something else along with your first change. Don't worry if you "slip-up" or something. Just get right back to it.

Soon enough you'll be thinking about choosing a food plan to follow or exercise plan. You'll be changing your life forever!

Have a look around, and make sure to post wherever you're comfortable!

Best of success!

Welcome to 3FC!

Wow, I think it's so cool that you're working on becoming an electrician! Good for you! That sounds like a lot of fun.

Great advice from Faerie. Small lifestyle changes can make a huge difference.
And yes, check out the depression forum. I know how difficult is to take charge of your life while dealing with depression.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I really hope i can do it this time... i have to be a bridesmaid in 2 months and want to at least feel good about myself. I've been watching I can make you thin on tv too so maybe i'll be incorporating that along with my YOU on a diet reading...

Hi there! Congratulations on being a bridesmaid! I also read You On A Diet, and found it to be the catalyst that started me on my current diet. Although of course we aren't meant to think of it as a diet, but more of a healthy way of living for life. I am sure between the book and coming here, and making small changes, you will be successful. Good luck!
