Hi all! So I just got my engagement pictures taken this weekend, and the photographer took a really neat one of me and DF holding hands (I made it my avatar so you can see it). I think I might use this for wedding invitations, but would like to have a neat quote to go with it. Any suggestions?
Marriage begins with the first look and the first kiss.
The first look between lover and beloved divides
The intoxication of Life from the awakening.
It is the first flame that lights up the inner
Domains of the heart.
It is that brief moment which unfolds before
The soul the chronicles of time, and reveals to the
Eyes the deeds of the night and the works of the
Conscience.
It opens Eternity’s secrets of the future.
Marriage is the bond that unites the strangeness of the
Past with the brightness of the future; the link
Between the silence of feelings and their song.
Marriage is a word uttered by four lips proclaiming
The heart a throne, Love a king, and fidelity a crown.
Marriage is the beginning of that magic vibration
That carries the lovers from the world of weights and
Measures into the world of dreams and revelations.
I think the 5th stanza of Gibran's would be good as a wedding quote
I also like this from Gift from the Sea (Anne Morrow Lindbergh)
Marriage is a bond, actually many bonds,
Many strands of different texture and strength,
Making up a web that is taut and firm.
The web is fashioned of love.
Romantic love first,
Then a slow-growing devotion,
And playing through these, a constant rippling companionship.
And, one more...
“To get the full value of joy you must have someone to share it with.”
--Mark Twain
We used all of these in some capacity at our wedding. Congratulations!!!
My personal favorite (because I'm a bit of a science geek...)
The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.
Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)
Other favorites:
A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.
Mignon McLaughlin
Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves.
Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662)
We both love quotes but just couldn't find one to suit us for our wedding invitations. I wish you lots of luck!
An alternative:
If you are using an exterior enclosure or pocket (like Envelopments), you could put the picture on the outside and just enclose a very plain invitation, OR you could seal your invitations with the photo on a sticker. Extra stickers could be used to decorate the programs and items at the reception.
