Default In the spirit of being consistent , lost 2lbs this week, not ecstatic :(

I have been posting my losses in this section of the forum each week, I didn't much feel like shouting from the roof tops this morning when I weighed in at 481 which is only 2lbs loss from last week. but in the spirit of being consistent I decided that I should post. I cannot say that I am totally disappointed, after all a 2lb loss in a week is a good loss right? but its the lowest loss I have to date and it was sudden as last week I dropped 8lbs. I think I am slightly more bummed than I would be if I wasn't so excited to be within 5lbs of my 2nd mini goal which is to be 479lbs. the significance of 479 is it is my last known weight from about 6 years ago and if I can get under that number I will be lighter than I have been in 6 years. I would like to thank everyone for their continued support so far. it has helped.

There you have it 2lbs down so I guess thats a good thing.

As Ever
Me

I understand that feeling completely. But you can't compare it to other weeks. The point is to take each week on its own and say "Hey there, I've lost weight! Success!"

And that's just what this week is, a huge success!

On a side note, for many people, weight loss does slow to some extent. You're a guy so it may not happen as much as the ladies, but you may find that 8 lb losses each week won't happen. (As much as I wish they would continue for you!) However, maybe next week you'll lose a bunch more! Who knows? That's in the future. For now... be satisfied that your hard work is really paying off. Besides you've lost a total of over 30 lbs! Amazing!

Now don't get all Biggest Loser on me! It frustrates me when people say they "ONLY" lost two pounds, like they do on the show. 2 lbs is great!!

I know how you feel. I did Tae Bo everyday and was really working hard and the scale went down 1 pound. Be happy that you lost and didn't gain, losing is always a good thing.

Don't be disappointed with a LOSS!! I absolutely forbid it! lol. You know the score, there is little I can say to you that you don't know already, you've probably encouraged so many people in a similar situation before.
I had a quick flick at your blog and noticed that this disappointment was brewing from earlier weigh-ins during the week. I can happily ignore the scales for weeks, months even years, throwing a blind eye to the weight piling on. As soon as I am trying to lose weight, hey presto! I am jumping on and off the scales like a lunatic obsessed with those numbers. Step away from the scales, weigh yourself once a week at your 'official' WI. I have had many a good attempt at losing weight sabotaged by own inability to cope with disappointments at WI.
A loss really should not be a disappointment but I do know how you feel, it would be nice to speed up our losses but this time around I will happily exchange bumper losses for steady consistent weight loss over the long term.
I've seen the picture of the 1lb of fat on your blog, you lost 2 of those this week - in addition to the 8 you lost last week! That is fantastic!
Imagine you had gained 2lbs, think of how you would feel about the 2lbs then. I bet it would seem HUGE! "OMG!! I gained two whole pounds!!"

You are doing great, *try* not to sweat over the numbers on the scale, look at NSV as well, pat yourself on the back over the amazing behavioural changes that you have made to get such a wonderful start to your weight loss journey.

Phew! The only thing I need to do now is take my own advice!!

Take care, onwards and downwards!

Congratulations on your 2lb loss. Firstly the scales are moving in the right direction. You will find that during your weight loss journey some weeks you lose a little less than others. Although take comfort and do not get discourage you are still doing excellent and are an inspiration to others. Keep up your good work and you will soon be a your mini goal and soon be making another goal to attain too.

Purple took the words out of my mouth. The longer you stick to it.. the more ya realize... sometimes you can do everything right and still have a smaller loss.. or none at all (sometimes even a gain!) the point is to STICK WITH IT. dont quit. Keep on keepin on... and it will come off.

But seriously. 2 lbs is great. I know its hard when the expectations are higher... I've been there. but you're doing great

been there done that. When those weeks happen for me I have to remind myself that a 2 pounds loss is better than a 2 pound gain.

I remember one of my doctors once telling me to consider that even an average loss of 1/4 lb a week (a lousy 4 ounces), is far, far better than what most people wanting to lose weight actually DO. If you continue to lose, no matter how slowly, and no matter how many no-loss weeks or even small gains you've had, as long as you're consistently moving downward - you are in the minority, at the top of the class, BABY!

I think that has to be something we're constantly aware of. The stats are horrendous, most people are not able to keep weight off. There are a lot of reasons, but I really think the number one reason is the tendency to feel that small losses aren't good enough. It tends to seem like all the effort just isn't worth it, if the payout is so small. But, I don't think we realize the size of the payoff, because we compare ourselves against an imaginary "normal". We don't recognize how amazing it is to lose weight consistently (no matter how slowly).
