here's my two cents: most nutritionists just don't get it - they seem to think that we can eat like 'normal' people afterwards - like a higher proportion of carbs than protein. and we can't. there's not a person around here who can lose and maintain on that.
the sad fact is that most of us are insulin resistant, and we do better following a diabetic -STYLE diet [notice i didn't say DIABETIC diet] - one that emphasizes protein, lots of veggies, and small amounts of high quality carbs.
we need attention to TIMING of our eating, as well as what we're eating.
having said ALL THAT, the only 'dietician' i encountered that actually helped was a diabetes educator - a dietician. she knew it - and got it - and was able to help EVERYONE individualize their food plans. some of us did well with whole wheat pasta [i'm not one of them!], and others did better with starchy veggies like acorn squash [i'm one of those].
