Default Women's insight needed- problems with the Pill

Hi ladies,
This is a little personal, but I can't find the info I am looking for on the internet, so I figured I would turn to you ladies, figuring maybe you could help?

I am currently on the pill (desogen) and over the weekend, I was busy and forgot to take one dose. This has happened before (not often, but maybe 3x a year on busy mornings) with no side effects- I just take 2 the following morning. Well, this time when I did that- I ended up bleeding. I JUST finished my TOM, and now I am having another period. Talk about awful- as if once a month isn't enough! Anyways- has anyone else here had this happen? I was wondering when it's supposed to stop. Will it take 5-7 days like a normal TOM or am I going to have to wait until I start up my next pack? If I have to wait, that would be a 3 week long period... no fun! Any insight or personal experience welcome! Thanks in advance.

I'm on desogen as well and I have never had this problem. I bet your body is just a little confused but will right itself soon enough. Are you have any pain? I would see a doctor if it starts smelling funny or the blood is a different (darker) color than whatever is normal for you. Sorry, that was kind of gross but it's just my opinion. Give it a couple days and keep taking your pill like normal.

I've never taken that particular pill, but in the past I've had a similar experience with other pills. It may stop shortly or you may spot all month, it just depends on the pill and how your body reacts. It certainly shouldn't be prolonged heavy bleeding though. If that happens, I'd call your doctor.

Oh man!! this happens to me if I am late taking my pill by as little as a couple of hours! Usually for me, it is light and lasts about three days with some sparatic spotting for about a week. Talk about a pain in the ***!

I was on Desogen for 3 years. It helped me in MANY ways, but a year or so ago I had to switch (Nuvaring- LOVE IT) because of constant breakthrough. My GYN attributed it at first to me skipping periods and not taking them at the same exact time every day. After 4 months with it only getting worse, I went in and told her she had to take me off the pill. We both agreed that it was no longer the right pill. I personally attribute this to my body stabilizing after a tremendous weightloss.

Also, at first it wasn't bad and I thought it would go away, but it only got worse withe very cycle. Def keep an eye on it and don't hesitate to talk to your doctor.

This effect can happen to some women who forget to take their daily pill. I've had a similar problem when I was taking anti-biotics (which effect how the pill works). Unfortunately, that time, I had my TOM for 2 full weeks. But, it was only that once. I hope it ... clears up... for lack of a better phrase... soon
