Default what is WRONG WITH ME?

I haven't been to the gym but twice in the last 8 days. This is horrible, I am falling off the wagon. I am so lazy, I don't feel like doing anything. I don't get what's wrong with me. When I get on the eliptical, bike, etc..I start to feel sick at my stomach and my head gets all foggy. I physically don't feel right. I'm not "sick" I don't think, just really tired and any excessive physical exercise makes me feel like I'm going to faint.

Whats up? anyone ever got like this?

I've been eating better the last two days, but that won't get the weight off. I've been "dieting" for 2 years and have only gotten half of the weight off. IVE GOT to get it off now, I'm starting a new career soon..moving..etc. I want a new body to go with my new life, I want to be healthy.

Is this mental? or could there be something wrong physically?

First, you say you've been eating better the past two days, which implies that your eating hasn't been so hot recently. I only say this to mean that it could be affecting how you feel while exercising. I know that if I've eaten a meal of junk and then go to exercise later on, that I feel like crap.

That could be part of the problem.

I'd say, make sure you're eating is back to normal for the next couple of days, make sure you're getting some protein and enough water, and then plan to exercise, but for a shorter period of time to see how you feel.

While exercising, are you making sure to get enough water? Maybe you need a small snack sometime before exercising, or immediately after exercising to keep your energy up.

If you find that this extreme fatigue and nausea continue then it might be time to see a doctor.

Well, I ate rather decent. Nothing HORRIBLE..but went out for a steak dinner on V-day (split it with the GF) then went to a winery on Saturday (didn't eat bad, but drank a few glasses of wine).

I haven't been really off the plan..no fried food, junk, etc. I don't remember the last time I ate "junk" but for the last two days I've been strictly back on.

I drink 36 oz of water at work (not including lunch) then drink another 36 at the gym and I eat a granola bar about 30 min or so before the gym.

I say for right now, as long as I'm doing some, like 30 min it's better than nothing until I feel back up to it. The flu has been going around here, I just hope I don't come down with it. EVERYONE is sick.

You don't say what it is you've been eating. I know I had this thing in my head that the less I ate the faster I would lose but found out I was way wrong. I have to eat a minimum of 1000 calories a day and a max of 1300 to lose consistantly. And, it has to be the right kinds of calories. If you aren't getting enough nutrients, you don't have the fuel you need for your workouts and will feel sick if you expend too much energy. Try putting yourself on a good multi vitamin and take a look at what your eating. If you don't start to feel better in a week or two you may need to make a visit to your doc to make sure you don't have something else going on.

yeah, I'm thinking I may not be getting enough calories. It is extremely hard for me to count calories. I'm living at home for the time being, my mother makes all the dinners lately and I never know what she puts in them..but it's like I'm a child again..eat it or go hungry.

So not knowing what the heck I'm eating could be the issue, I bet I just don't have enough fuel. I need at least 1500-1700 calories to burn, is what I was told. I bet I only get like 1200 or something.

Okay, so it seems you haven't been really all that off plan or anything. I agree that as long as you keep doing some right now, that's all that matters. You may, in fact & unfortunately, be coming down with something. But only time will tell. In the meanwhile, yes, continue to do what you can!

Edit: And if you suspect, like your above post says, that you're not getting enough fuel. Definitely add a little more food in to see if that helps!!!

Might be worth checking in with a doctor if it doesn't get better in a couple of days (or if it doesn't get worse, telling you you do in fact have a bug.) My old roommate was dead tired for weeks - had herself tested for all kinds of things (including mono) and it turned out that she had a thyroid problem. I had a similar experience (all of a sudden I was just feeling tired and sick to my stomach) with a very different cause (pregnant - surprise!) There's also Epstein Barr syndrome and who knows what else - so please get it checked out if it doesn't get better soon!

I was reading what everyone was saying, and does anyone else ever feel skeptical about that having to eat enough to lose weight?? I work out everyday and try and eat healthy and am not seeing results. People tell me that I need to eat more (rather than aim for 1,000 calories aim for 1,200 to 1,600 calories), but I feel like that is opposite of what everybody and the media (I know I know the media is crazy but still you all know what I mean) says to do. Eat less + work out more = lose weight

It's hard to tell myself that if I eat more I will lose weight...

It does seem counterintutive, but everyone who says that it's a simple calories in minus calories out is flat out wrong. The body is not a calculator, and it has all kinds of genius ways to protect itself from danger (like starvation.) You don't retain water if you drink enough; you retain it if you DON'T drink enough. Think of calories the same way!

I had a similar thing happen when I added an exercise program to my diet. All of the sudden I was getting dizy, light headed mildly nauseased when ever I would do anything physical. This went on for a few days. Then I woke up one morning, took a shower and was drying my hair when I collapsed. After a trip to ER they found my problem...LOW SODIUM.

I had been eating whole foods and not adding salt. I had been drinking lots of water but that wasn't enough. I was sweating so much at the gym that my sodium level got too low. I was shocked. Now I add a little salt at meals, I am still staying away fro processed foods though. Doc said if problems continued I might need to take salt pills when working...so far I have not had to do this.

I think it would be qa good idea to go to the doctor and things checked out just to be sure.

wow, low sodium. Yeah, I don't think I have that issue...but I could be lacking something else.

I understand how you feel I thought the same thing. I just didn't make sense. I finally was so sick of my plateau that I bumped my intake up and the weight began falling off again. It all comes down to your body thinking that it is starving and needs to save up. You know that you aren't going to starve to death any time soon but your body feels it is getting so much less food and reacts as though it is experiencing a famine and shuts down.

i have a strong belief that if the gym isn't working- try something new. some workout videos are great (i do carmen electra- amazing, i can't brag about it enough) and i alternate this with gym days. maybe, illbe, you are just bored with routine.

try a doctor. get some vitamins. take chromium (sp?) that is a great way to boost the metabolism. You can do it!
