Default off the track

hey everyone!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Well, I am falling off. I haven't exercised in 3 days. I have been at a conference for 2 days, so that is slightly an excuse. BUT I got up this morning, so tired from the last two days and didn't do it again. I weighed myself (I know, big no no) and I'm back up to 200. I hope it's water weight.

Tonight is the big night out, dinner at a steakhouse. I hope I don't splurge too bad. I won't be able to exercise saturday either. Does everyone have weeks like this? too tired or busy to exercise?

gah, I need to get back on track.

Hey Illbe! (Happy V-day to you, too )

The thing about exercise is, that I had to schedule it in as if it's a regular activity. Now I don't make plans before 5:00 on weekdays, because I know that I'm working out after work. Perhaps today you won't have time, being busy with things to do, and maybe that's true of Saturday as well, but what about tomorrow? Schedule in a little you time to exercise.

Now the thing about the steakhouse is, you don't have to just hope. You can plan. The best thing to do is make sure you don't starve yourself all today and then make up for it at the restaurant. Even if it's a planned splurge meal, you can still do things to make it better. Have you thought about ahead of time what you're going to order?

You can get back on the wagon anytime don't tell yourself you have to wait until after saturday. Squeeze in even a small workout maybe some crunches anything that gets you moving. Make sure you are drinking all your water and enjoy the steakhouse because i'm sure there are lots of healthy choices!

Hey girl!! How about this snow??!!!? Who knew??!

I get to go in 2 hours late, but I've been out of my building at a conference all week too, even though it's right here in town. On top of that, I've had a bad cold, and yesterday was the first day all week I've felt like exercising. We also had our V-day steak dinner last night (to beat the crowds)....and actually, if you go online and look at the calories counts for places like Ruby Tuesday, it's not horrible! I got a 7-oz. sirloin, ate 1/2 baked potato, and a nice sized salad w/the light ranch dressing. The calorie totals were NOT off the charts - so like the others say, PLAN ahead, and you'll be fine.

As for days/weeks that aren't full of exercise - I used to beat myself up about it, but now I just realize - this isnt' a temporary plan I'm on. This is the REST of my life - and there WILL be days when you can't fit it all in. So you just look at the next day fresh, and go from there! I'm at the SAME place as you....soooo close to 199....my scale hasn't tipped it yet, but I keep fluctuating during the week of 200-201. After about 8 weeks of this "new lifestyle", I've realized that it WILL come off, just can't be a slave to the scale.

ENJOY your special dinner out tonight...pamper and be pampered...and get back on track this weekend (like me!)

I am taking the day off too... i already decided that this morning. Valentine's Day is just too hard to stay on calorie counting point. There are too many sweets being passed around the office and i plan on going out to eat with my husband this evening. I've been going to the gym every day and eating pretty well... so i figure one splurge day isn't going to be the end of the world.

yes, I have planned the dinner. Veggies for a side dish and we are splitting a steak, so it shouldn't be too bad!

Tomorrow I WILL be going to the gym, but Saturday I am taking my GF on a trip to a winery and we are staying overnight...so yeah. There won't be any gym going then! I will go tot he gym on Sunday too. I guess because I'm used to going 6 days a week, only going 3 times this week is bugging me. I feel like I'm slacking.

I am one of those people that if I stop, I'll start missing it more and more often..then eventually stop going all together. I think I'm different this time, we'll see.

i hear ya that you fear completely falling off if you don't keep up a good routine, that all-or-nothing attitude comes easily. Unfortunately, it's not that helpful. I've finally trained myself to be grateful for the time I do make it to the gym, and even if I just do a half hour of cardio, at least I went. If I don't make it 5 days a week, so be it.
Don't punish yourself by getting off plan just becuase of a few lousy days.

I don't really think you're doing all that bad then, hun. I mean, you've planned a dinner (that sounds delicious to boot), you're going to the gym tomorrow and on Sunday...

But, I understand what you mean. It can feel like we're slacking when we're getting used to doing even more. Just think about how this week is better than what other weeks used to be And how next week will be back to your normal routine.

I agree with Shrinking Lizzy....you have to be greatful for what you can do!

Im falling off the wagon too....to be honest I have that terrible attitude of thinking "well ive already fallen so ill keep going until its easy for me to hop back on!" when I need to get back on instantly!!!

You will be hot one day! Just keep going!
