Default Questions to ask at gyno exam

Okay, first off, I'm a slacker. I get busy and therefore have put off having an annual exam for about 4 years. My aunt is a doctor and would just call in bc scripts for me when I was running out.

Anyway, I'm going to the clinic on campus next week for a pelvic exam and I want to bring up PCOS. I went with a friend of mine to her endocrinologist a few weeks ago, and as he diagnosed her with PCOS, I just wanted to shake my hand and say "me too, me too!" during the process.

My first gyno put me on Yasmin and said we'd always talk about "some other things" if I started showing insulin resistance, but never elaborated. And then when I moved here for grad school, I just never bothered to find anyone local.

I guess I feel a little uncomfortable since I don't know the doctor at all so it's not like we have a doctor/patient relationship. My insurance requires me to go through the campus health center first and then get a referral.

I think what worries me is that the girl who I went with during her diagnosis had symptoms that were much more extreme than mine.

So, the meat of the ramble:
1) Should I just bring up during the exam, hey can we see if I have PCOS?

2) Is there anything specific I should mention or ask during this stage?

Sorry if this makes no sense, I had a 4 hour exam this morning and I'm afraid my brains aren't working correctly yet.

I have to be really persisitant with my gyno if I want answers. Just be direct, straightforward and discuss things now, not later. Don't leave until you get your answers Definitely ask about your risks of having it, which doctors/hositals/resources in your area are best for it.

Just type "PCOS Symptoms" in your favorite browser to get information for your initial questions, and bring the list to your exam. There is a good one on WebMD but I'm sure there are many others as well. Following something on paper may help you remember all of the questions you want to ask. GL!
