I'm sorry, but I've been MIA. I hope you are all doing well. Sip water, take little bites and chew like crazy. I have sampled a few products that you guys might be interested in: Chike gluten-free protein drink; 170 cals. 3 fats; 9 carbs; 2 sugars; 27 prots. Kind of costly, but oh so darn good. Protein Pak 2 Go 60 cals; 2 carbs; 1 sugar; and 10 protein. You add it to your water and I tried the Orange Mango. It was good, but don't smell it before you drink it. Detour bars: lower sugar, oneway and u-turn. All have more sugar and carbs than I would like, but was traveling and ate them in a pinch. I also tried Muscle Milk lite, Chocolate Mint. Again more sugar than I like, but would do it occasionally. FUZE low carb 18 fl oz: 8 oz has 10 cals; 1 sugar; 2 carbs and NO PROT., but it is a nice change and you do get your liquid in. It is pricey, but would be nice once in a while. Maybe could add unflavored protein to it! Nectars are still my favorite and would like to try the Chocolate Truffle, but still working on the stuff I brought for my surgery in October.
WLS-up-date: I hit 219.5 this morning. Had an appointment with my WL Surgeon last week and I've lost 42% of my predicted weightloss. I have developed a pretty big hernia, which I'm not surprised about it because of all the dang surgeries I've had on my belly. I have to wear a spandex body shaper to help control it and that is a pain in the BUTT! I need to lose 8.5 more pounds and I will hit the Century mark. YIPEE~~ Dr. set my goal wt. at about 180 lbs, but I set my own goal at 170 lbs. I wanted to lose 100 lbs. by summer so I can try and golf with my family and do some hiking; so had to set another goal under 200 lbs. My labs were all good! My ortho thinks I have a torn tendon and wanted to put me in a walking cast; NO WAY! Been there, done that. Unless he knows for sure; so scheduled an MRI. I just don't want anything to slow me down at this point and a boot cast would surely do that!
For all of you newbies, there is a light at the end of that liquid phase; just hang in there and the pounds will melt away. Start good habits now, don't cheat and you will be already for real food. I've been having a lot of head hunger, but that is all it is IN MY HEAD, because my tummy is full!!
If you do have to have a cast and still want to have a good workout there's some good seatted workout dvds, so even if you are less active you can burn some extra calories. Congrats on all the success!
Glad to have you back Nancy and i hope you havent missed the cold weather. Been missing your positive outlook lately. Glad your doing so good and your doctor is please with your progress. I had a looooooooong stall with my weight but think its starting go down some again. Just about ready to go into another size, thats three sizes down now. Theres sure no regrets having this surgery , its saved my life!! Still working on making healthy choices and been studying food and cooking low carb and low fat mostly. Want to do better at vegetable dishes, expecially when the summer crop comes in. Hope i can find some good recipes and please send them along if you have any..
well, this got a little long winded.. so i better call it a nite.......
stay warm and safe......
NANCY! OMG that warranted a Holy Crap on a stick from me! (working hard on the nonprofanity my other fave is Sh!take Mushrooms!) You are kicking some BUTT!!!
Just think of the body shaper as a really strong pair of spanx! I bet you look great with it on.
<----can't wear body shapers b/c My upper body strength is uneven and I end up looking like I have a crooked BUTT!
Carvin: OMG!! you are doing so well! Those stalls are the pits. I can't weigh myself very often, because it does a head job on me. I keep forgetting that it took me many years to get so fat, and now I want it to fall off in one month. I'm so glad you are getting healthier. Isn't changing how you have cooked you whole life quite an adventure! I have been roasting eggplant, peppers, onions and garlic with a little olive oil and S&P and when it is done, add a TBSP of tomato paste. Do a coarse chop in the blender and eating like dip or putting in on chicken breast and sticking it in the oven with a little Parm cheese on top. It looks like crap, but oh so good. Try making some lasagna use grilled zucchini as the noodles, now we are talking. Sure is hard to cook little tiny amounts without having the stuff for three weeks! 3 sizes down Yahoo. Be seeing you at Goodwill soon!!!! I did something really stupid yesterday. I throw out a chocolate truffle piece of cake with great big dark chocolate rosettes on the top. I opened the container, started to pitch it and reached down and chopped the rosette off the top of the cake without even thinking. What the heck! I got paniced, figured I'd go into some kind of seizure, flung myself over the the trash can and started spitting! Of course it was already on it's way down. Not one darn thing happened to me except the worse guilt trip and felt like the old days, that I had wrecked my whole new life style. I went into a grand funk, thinking that I'll put my weight back on, my health will go down hill and such if I can't control myself any better than that. 56 y/o of bad habits can't be broken in 4 months!!! I'm a dang work in progress, FOREVER!!!!
KO! HOOT! HOOT! You are so funny. Crooked butt! Snorkel!! I have had so many surgeries on my gut, and the hyster all came open and I look like I have a butt in the front and back. We were talking about the low-rider pants and I was afraid that my butt crack would stick out and my sister wanted to know which of my butt cracks that might be; the front or the back. Doc doesn't want to do any repair of the hernia until I'm 18 mos to 24 mos out unless it gives me a problem; so the spandex will hold the thing in. My belly looks kind of like rolling hills, valleys, a big creek and a great big mountain. I still have a belly button though. My granny had so many hernia surgeries that they finally took her belly button out. We used to beg to see her belly; like one of the seven wonders of the world.
Nancy,
just a quick question.. when you say grill your veggies.. are you using the broiler oven. I am trying to learn to cook more veggies other then boiling... hopefully ,,, maybe by this summer when fresh garden comes, i can get the barbeque going...
How about some other vegetable suggestions... id love to try some...i never did much but open a can or peel some spuds and carrots. We lived pretty plain on the farm , mostly homegrown, big meals and homemade breads... thats where the weight came from. So veggies here i come..

Reason: no ticker
For years we have grown our own veggies; can and freeze the crap out of them and settled in for a long meat, carb and homebaked goods filled winter. Thus, I look like I have a bag of potatoes hanging on my waist and thighs. I keep saying I look like a nice big eggplant with legs!!
Grilled veggies: I brush them with olive oil and grill them on a table top grill until the weather breaks. I do a lot of roasted root veggies in the oven during the winter. Yesterday roasted peppers, onions, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, carrots and at a 1.89 a lb. zucchinis. 45 minutes at 400 degrees. What is left over goes into a veggie soup with V8, a beef broth and soe spices. I sprinkle this with cheese before I eat it. Fresh veggies around here is really expensive. I did find a place that sales tri-colored peppers for $1.99 a pack. I paid $2.48 for a red pepper last week! Do you have an Aldi's Store around? I'd love to have great big fresh garden tomato!!!
I made a soy flour pizza crust for my family yesterday, and.....it sucked. My DD laughed her head off because it was like a browned sponge. The taste was.....weird. Think I'll have to work on that one.
I made a Sweet Potato, Tomato, Chickpea soup in my pressure cooker and it was pretty darn good, but used a little much red pepper. I will make this one again.
Anyone want to get brave and start a recipe thread here? I'm still mulling it around.
thanks for info... i was wandering how to go about grilling when its 30 below !! Guess the toaster oven might work for now, I have done my share of canning also.. i use to can enough to last one garden season to the next. It was the raised beef that put my hips on!! along with the homemade noodles ... but you know i dont miss it at all. Had a vinegar and olive oil broccoli salad for supper!!... so the group here is paying off..............
