Krissi, it's a sort of conscious, practical therapy. It's about questioning yourself when you have irrational thoughts, and responding to the thoughts in a positive manner. Well, that's a pretty basic answer.
I started doing it several years ago, and I've learned to develop habits and practices that get me through times which would have formerly been completely debilitating.
ie: I can now speak in public (a biggie for me).
If I have depressive thoughts (assuming they're not biological), I can usually figure out what's bothering me and work through it.
It's helped me with issues of anger, impatience, etc.
I'm still working on things, but it's changed my life a
lot.

I have a psychiatrist, but he mainly just digs in my head.

I have to do the CBT on my own.
