Hi there! I'm new to 3FC but I've been reading over the past few days and have been really impressed by all the great support and motivation people have been showing here. It's wonderful to find someplace on the internet where people are actually being nice to each other =P!
I'm a semi-recent college graduate, looking to go to graduate school next fall. Before then, I would really like to establish some healthy eating and exercising (plus thinking, feeling, sleeping, haha) patterns that will help me stay sane and confident through some intense years! I used to be a size 8 in college, but a stressful end of the year plus leaving campus (where I would walk everywhere) to a drive-everywhere-suburb have pushed me closer to a size 10 now. What was briefly 140 lbs is now 154 lbs, and I'd really like to shrink down to a size smaller than I can remember being, like 130 or 125 (someday!).
I'm trying to get into the best shape I can when my first college reunion rolls around at the end of May, and then when I start school at the end of August. It'd be amazing to be able to show my college friends (and ex's!) a leaner, fitter me, as well as get the extra esteem from looking good when I start making new ones as a new student.
Most of my exercise now is walking and jogging on the treadmill for 4-5 miles (2 walk, 3 jog right now), which I'm *trying* to do 5 times a week. I'm finally done with the application process so I will have fewer excuses not to meet that goal from now on! I also just bought a cool bento box type thing so I can start bringing lunch to work and avoid those days when I crave a muffin or scone from the cafeteria. A couple days ago, I realized (inspired by these forums) that I've been eating more than I really need to as a result of snacking throughout the day, so I'm trying to be more aware of this and avoiding going too far, or at least avoiding snacks other than fresh fruit.
I know I should work in other kinds of activities too in addition to the jogging, especially weight lifting... but... well, I guess I'm just going to focus on making the changes I've already made stick.
Anyway, so that's me! I look forward to getting to know more of you all as I continue to visit these boards! Thanks for all the inspiration you guys have already provided!
