Default Good and Bad

So I got my cholesterol checked again. Last time was in September. The bad stuff got better and the good stuff got worse! So is that good or bad? I think it's at least better.

As long as the bad stuff went down, it is better than before. Another thing you want to watch are your triglycerides, they were better before. Triglycerides go up from starchy fats, at least that is what my dr told me. You do want to increase foods like olive oil, nuts and avocado to bring that good cholestrol back up! Congrats on bringing the bad stuff down!!

I think it looks better but I don't know much about cholesterol information. I think you are definitely making progress Sandi

Exercise will also help HDL's go up.
BLUEYEDLVRGIRL is right about the triglycerides. Too many highly refined carbs, not the good kind like whole grains, fruits and vegetables, raises the triglycerides.
Good fats include oily fish also.

Hi Sandi,

Your "lousy" went down, you "healthy" is still above 40 and your overall total number went down. Yes, your numbers are better. Now, I'd concentrate on keeping that HDL above 40 and lowering that overall number.....are you eating lots of healthy fats?...olive oil, nuts, salmon, avocados? Are you cutting out fried foods and sugar? Are you eating lots of whole grains....like steel cut oatmeal, whole wheat bread and pasta? You don't smoke, right? And, if you like red wine.....enjoy a nice 5 oz glass 2 or 3 times a week. Your numbers will probably be even better on your next visit. But, for now....great job!
