Default I'm new and losing motivation fast

Hello all~
I have been hanging out here for awhile but am just starting to post today. I have lost 15 pounds in the last 2 months and am so proud of myself. I have been overweight my whole life and this is the first time I have made it this far in losing weight. But this week I have just LOST the motivation to eat healthy or exercise. I just want to eat everything in sight! I want to keep working towards my goal but don't know if I can kick my rear back into shape. What to do?

Are you bored?? I am in the EXACT same spot!! 2 months, 15 lbs down and motivation is trailing off. You would think it would be the opposite. I don't know if this will work or if it will help you but for the past couuple of days I have been trying to channel in on the feelings I had when I "got my head in it" in the middle of December. I am hoping that will help some. I also wore a more snug pair of pants to work today to remind me that I am not yet at my next mini goal. That has helped a bit today.

I wish you luck and motivation!! Keep it up!

Yes, I am bored! I am so bored sitting at my desk all day (like right now). And to make it worse, I work at a company that always has food in stock that we can eat. It's horrible!

When I don't feel the motivation, I just take a look in the mirror. Works like a charm!

Might you have an idea in your head of a dream outfit or something of the sort that you want to wear when you're at goal? If you do, maybe you can find a picture of what it'd look like, print it out, and slap it on the wall some place where you'd see it often. I personally have a big poster of a band I love, who's vocalist (in my opinion) is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, and she's in this amazing dress, and every time I see it I think "I wish that I could be thinner so I could wear things like that". I look at the poster whenever I 'don't feel like it' and that really gets my butt back on the motivation bus.

You can also come right here on 3fc and look at some of the 'Goal' posts. Seeing the amazing transformations, reading about how much better they all felt after they dropped the pounds, and seeing how much happier they look in the 'after' photo, that personally provides heaps of motivation for me.

There's tons of things that can help motivate someone, but those are just a few suggestions. I hope you find something that will bring back the motivation for you.

Lightbulb Realize that your desire to lose will wax and wane

Does your desire for other things burn brightly every minute of every day? I doubt it so why should you feel that losing weight is any different. Don't!

All of us, I repeat all of us, including those people who crossed the finish line and have met their weight lose goals, have had times when they just didn't "feel like it" but guess what, they did it anyway.

In the past, one of my favorite "excuses" to not diet was that my life had to be at a place where nothing came up suddenly that I had to deal with because, guess what, I didn't believe I could deal with whatever it was without the aid of extra food! Well, since I allowed myself that back door escape I also used it often, a lot and all the time!

Again, when I got serious last fall, I felt rather smug that now my life was on an even plateau and I felt relatively confident that I could sail right on through to the end without any thing happening that would upset my dieting.

Boy, was I wrong! Big time! I have had some of the same problems that I used to have in the past plus a couple of new and even more challenging ones like my Mom being critically ill in another state that have demanded more of my energy.

I haven't lost as quickly as I would have liked and it seems like I struggle to stay on plan more out of financial reasons than any other but I am still working it. And, that is the difference right now. I had it all wrong before. I thought I had to wait for life to change before I could successfully lose weight. Now, I realize that it isn't about life or even motivation that has to change. I have to!

Now, I do it whether I feel like it or not. I'm not going to quit until I have hit my goal weight. I would like to make it by April 2009 but if I don't I won't stop there. It will take as long as it needs to take. Pure and simple.

If setting goals for you works, do it! For me, I have only two goals: 1) have the best day that I can 2) don't ever give up!

I am also new to the site, but not new to this journey of weight loss. We all lose motivation sometimes. I spent the holidays in a holding pattern because I knew that I needed a bit of a break from the full-attack mode that I am usually in. Even though I have several plateaus over the last year and many times I have lost my motivation, I still managed significant weight loss over this last year, and I know that you can do it too. Spending time at this site and with others going through your journey helps a lot. Good luck!!

Sometimes when I lose motivation I just pick one thing to work on like getting my water in. Gives me time to regroup without totally sabotagging my efforts. The bordom at work-could you maybe take in a cookbook to plan weekly menues or a regular book to read, maybe makes list of things you want to accomplish-something to maybe take your mind off food and keep your hands busy?

bethbeth,
For me Feb is always a difficult month. Spring seems so far away and cabin fever just screams for comfort foods. You are not alone. If you journal, go back and read entries from a time when you were more excited. Try changing up your exercise. When I'm bored I find it helpful to try something new. It can help make it all more exciting. Post often and remember you are not alone in this struggle. Good vibes coming your way.
