Talking New to 3FC, but not new to diets!

As my title reads, I'm new to 3FC (and very glad to have found it!), but I'm not new to dieting.

My name is Sarah, and I'm 21 years old. I live with my husband, Rich, our dog Dakota, and our cat Jimmy in Richmond, VA. I've been overweight or obese for nearly all of my life; both of my parents are overweight, my sister is overweight, and several members of my extended family are overweight.

For all of us, it's a combination of genetics and unhealthy relationships with food. For myself, I know that my limitations in childhood & when I was a teenager because of ankle injuries made my weight more of an issue than it would have been otherwise, and I've never been able to correct it, at least until now.

I've really thought a lot about why I've never been able to stick to a diet, and a lot of it was because I was not in total control of what I was putting into my body. Now that I am no longer living under my parents' roof, and I control what's brought home from the grocery store and cooked for lunch or dinner, I can avoid those things which are a temptation, and really do what's best for myself, what's best for my body.

I've had moderate success with weight watchers in the past, and for me, it's the easiest way to see what I'm eating. I like being able to balance my portions with the right amount of protein, veggies & fruits, and even the foods that I enjoy eating but may not be so healthy (Outback Steakhouse, I'm looking at you! ). I'm on the last day of my second week of Weight Watchers, and I've already lost 3+ lbs. this week (I didn't weigh in the first week, but I'm guessing it was around 5 lbs. or so). I feel motivated, and most importantly committed, which isn't something I have felt in my past attempts.

I just wanted to introduce myself, and say that I'm really grateful to find 3FC, and look forward to embarking on this journey with all of you! (I should note that I'm a member of the 300+ club, so I'll probably be found in there and the Weight Watchers forum the most often.)

Hi and welcome.

Rest assured you'll be very welcome in any area of 3FC! We're glad you're here. Make yourself at home and if you need anything ... just ask!

Welcome, Sarah!
You sound very "together". Good for you for making some better choices. We're here for each other... even when the motivation starts to lag.
