Default Newbie from Virginia

I'm a 26 y/o married female living in Virginia. I'm fat and I feel really disgusting I signed up with a gym on Friday and today will be my first day. I am also doing WW. I guess more than anything, I need a place to track my progress and get support from people that were or are in my situation. I found when I smoked that keeping an online journal of my progress really helped me acheive that obstacle. Can someone tell me what forum I can start a photo journal in, where I can update daily with my progress?

I see a lot of threads where people show before and after, and people ask how they did it... but no where do I see people replying the secrets of their success. I would like some weight loss tips. Where can I find storys of HOW these people lost all this weight? Thanks for your help.

First: !!!

Often their stories are in the Goal section. People often explain what they've done in their stories. While their pictures are in the Goal Photo Album section. (They're kept separate.)

Goal Photo Album: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=200

Best of luck with the gym & with WW!! (I'm finding it's working if I work the program )

Welcome. I, too, am in Virginia, at least until March. I am hoping to lose about 80-100 pounds. Good luck, Sneeks!

Hey Sneeks, and

Read Goal Stories! Most often, people put some information about their plan and methods into their goal story, which is usually a separate thread from their before and after pics.

Have you found our WW forums yet? We have areas for those on both Flex and Core, as well as general chat threads. We also have groups based on age group, so look around and settle in posting wherever you like.

Can't wait to get to know you better!

Welcome, Sneeks! Read around ALL OVER these boards--there is a TON of helpful information and inspiration. When in doubt, ASK! Everyone here is great at offering advice, tips, and assistance whenever possible.

BTW, I am in Virginia, too. I lived in Va Beach for about a year, then Manassas for about a year, then Alexandria for a while, now in Woodbridge...

Sneeks, !! You're in MANASSAS? That is SO COOL!! I grew up in Manassas!!

If you want to keep a journal with pictures, try getting a 3FC diet blog. On the purple menubar at the top, you will see something that says "free diet blogs" - click on it and register one so you can keep track. I used my diet blog heavily at the beginning to write about my feelings on weight loss and track my progress.

For whatever it's worth, here is how *I* did it. I actually DO reply to people who ask me how I lost weight, FYI

I started out riding my bike 20 miles a day, 4 days a week, while eating 1,800 calories. I kept this up until I hit a plateau, then lowered my calories to 1,600 and started going to the fitness center 2-3 times a week to do weight training and 30 minutes on the elliptical (in addition to the bike riding). Then, I lowered my calories to 1,500, 1,400, 1,300, 1,200 and kept losing weight until I hit a plateau. After that, I increased my calories and cycled them (1,200 one day, 1,400 the next, 1,600, 1,800, and back) and also started the C25K program, which you can find here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml . I also started running up and down the stairs at the stadium for 20-30 minutes around twice a week.

Now that I am maintaining, I still do all the exercise I did while losing, only I eat more. I ate treats while losing and still eat treats while maintaining, as this is a lifestyle change and therefore I was not super strict. Food wise, I tried to eat a lot of lean proteins, plenty of fruits and vegetables, a good amount of fiber, lean dairy like nonfat yogurt, and I tried to eat every few hours. I didn't always succeed, but I still lost all the weight (40 pounds in 5 months).
