Sneeks,

!! You're in MANASSAS? That is SO COOL!! I grew up in Manassas!!
If you want to keep a journal with pictures, try getting a 3FC diet blog. On the purple menubar at the top, you will see something that says "free diet blogs" - click on it and register one so you can keep track. I used my diet blog heavily at the beginning to write about my feelings on weight loss and track my progress.
For whatever it's worth, here is how *I* did it. I actually DO reply to people who ask me how I lost weight, FYI
I started out riding my bike 20 miles a day, 4 days a week, while eating 1,800 calories. I kept this up until I hit a plateau, then lowered my calories to 1,600 and started going to the fitness center 2-3 times a week to do weight training and 30 minutes on the elliptical (in addition to the bike riding). Then, I lowered my calories to 1,500, 1,400, 1,300, 1,200 and kept losing weight until I hit a plateau. After that, I increased my calories and cycled them (1,200 one day, 1,400 the next, 1,600, 1,800, and back) and also started the C25K program, which you can find here:
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml . I also started running up and down the stairs at the stadium for 20-30 minutes around twice a week.
Now that I am maintaining, I still do all the exercise I did while losing, only I eat more. I ate treats while losing and still eat treats while maintaining, as this is a lifestyle change and therefore I was not super strict. Food wise, I tried to eat a lot of lean proteins, plenty of fruits and vegetables, a good amount of fiber, lean dairy like nonfat yogurt, and I tried to eat every few hours. I didn't always succeed, but I still lost all the weight (40 pounds in 5 months).
