Default Drinking "greens" - powders, cans or juicing?

There was a splurb in a magazine about a powder that has a powdered blend of greens, fruits, vegetables, antitoxidants, etc. in it. I never eat enough real veggies and I get busy, plus I travel and thought this would be easy. For a week I've been mixing it with water and I feel more energy. It's called Maximum Greens, has anyone else tried this or anything similar? My mom buys some powered "stuff" from another company, I got this at GNC but it was quite expensive. I've also tried in the past downing V-8 juices almost daily.

BUT my mom who's almost 70 has such nice skin. She claims it's from juicing "real" vegetables, especially carrots. She does this juicing religiously in the am and pm, it's messy and time consuming. However I'm trying to slow down my life these days. Whenever I've been able to really eat a lot of veggies for a period of time I'll admit I can see it in my skin and hair.

SO... just wondering. Anyone figured out how to "drink" their vegetables? Does anyone drink this powder or something like it? V-8 juice? Or does anyone actually spend the time and money juicing with a juicer? And what types of vegetables and fruits do you juice? I just picked up a book at the library to do some studies on juicing...

I have "juiced" in the past. I do buy the low sodium V-8 (or generic) and drink it when I can't get in enough veggies for the day. That being said, I really prefer to eat my veggies in a solid form. Unless I juice and use the pulp in other products, I like getting ALL of the nutrition that veggies offer via the "whole" package.

I have a greens powder to add to protein shakes right now, Orac-Energy Greens. I've tried to drink it straight and it takes quite a bit of just gulping and getting it down. My supplement guy suggests adding it to apple juice, but I'm wary of added sugar. So it works better in a shake, for me.

The Maximum Greens tastes good because of added sugar. Doesn't make sense to me, I think I'd rather it taste "bad"....

I did a google of this product and others thought it was expensive for what it is. One site with weight lifters said the best is a multi vitiman called Ulra Mega Green Multi. There's also something alled Greens+. I found the Orac Greens powder online too.

One guy I googled makes shakes with his veggie powder - 1 T of it with 1 scoop protein powder, 2 T. ground flaxseed and some other ingredients and drinks it twice a day. But generally people thought it was expensive for a supplement - but it can't hurt I guess if one wants to and likes it. I think the stuff and it gives me energy within minutes.

I use a vitamix and make green smoothies. I use spinach, carrots, celery, cucumber, apples, banana, berries, etc. This is what I drink every morning for breakfast and mid morning snack. I sometimes vary the ingredients but those are the basics.

I enjoy it quite a bit.

I've also used "Ultimate Meal" in the past and my husband drinks that every morning, usually blended with other veggies.

I don't care for juicers because they take the fiber out of veggies and fruit.

Hey there!

I hope you're well!

I try to juice at least everyday - and usually mix my greens and fruits in one juice! I love it, its quick and easy - and makes sure I'm getting my 5 a day without fail! I only started recently (2/3 weeks) and all of a sudden I've noticed that I've got spots... well I got very worried and went straight to my Mum. My Mum said that it was my body getting rid of all the toxins in my skin and that its a good thing and that by the end of the week it'll be as right as rain!

Anyways, I'll give you a couple examples of recipes if you'd like...

Sometimes I like to mix:
3 green apples
2 oranges
half a red pepper
half a celery stick
honey

or:
1 red pepper
1 small chili pepper
2 tomatoes
lemon juice

or:

2 oranges
2 apples
3 carrots
1 parsnip
1/4 of a cucumber

Well, anyways I hope thats helpful!!

I love it and have seen the benefits in my hair - and just LOVE the difference in my energy levels in the morning.
