Question personal question

I seem to be full of questions lately...lol

Ok (I apologize if this is too personal)

like I have said b4 I am approx 325 pds, I have always been heavy and have never had regular periods. About 2 years ago (around the same time my mother and grandmother passed away and I gained about 100 pds in 6 months) I quit getting my period all together.

Now about 3 years ago I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrom....funny thing is that I was never tested.

Some time after that I started seeing a chiropractor about 3 times a week and began getting my period again on a regular basis.

My bf and I have been talking about us having a baby but fear that pregnancy would either be unsafe or very difficult with everything as is.

I was wondering if any of you ladies have been/in similar situation or have any helpful insight?

Hey kristalynne,

I have been suffering from PCOS for a long time but I haven't tried to conceive. There is a PCOS forum on 3FC and there are a lot of women there that might be able to answer your PCOS questions. One thing that I know is that for some women with PCOS it is very difficult to have a child.

Hello!

I have PCOS, I was DX in 2005, although I always knew I had it from my teens but didn’t want to admit it, it was only when I’d gone about 10 months without a period I decided to go and see my Doctor.

Since 2005, I’ve only had 2 periods, which is not good, the longest being 465 days… the last one came in December 2007 and if she was to return to 28 days would be due today but no sign yet, I am hoping with weight loss they may return to normal but I guess we shall see…

They do say people who are overweight have problems with there hormones and periods can stop just like anorexic people but yet there are still a lot of people out there who managed to conceived over 300lbs and delivery a healthy baby… I have a friend now with PCOS who was married 18 months ago and is now 26 weeks pregnant with her first baby and the pregnancy has been fine for her, her weight is around 326lbs when I last spoke to her, she actually lost weight in the beginning!

Thank you both so much, I have been reading the forums and have learned a great deal of wonderful information (all that I have printd and plan to take to the doctor im going to switch to)

I also think that all the information will be helpful for my boyfriend to understand what has been going on with me and all the symtoms I have that he does understand.

I also did not realize that there were so many people that had PCOS....learn somthing new everyday

Thanx again

Have you been DX with PCOS? I am over 300lbs and I don't have it but will frequently not have a cycle (if I loose it gets regular, if i gain it goes away). I have two children with no problems getting preggers as long as my cycle was normal while trying. I also have 2 friends that are well over 400 who have had no problems getting pregers. Now they had a bit of a problem with the pregnancy, both have gestational diabetes, both have pre-clampsia (sp?) (high blood pressure) and those arn't good for mom or baby. Both also had to have a c-section due to their size, but both have very happy healthy babies, and the one is preggers again due in two weeks.

I would just check with your GYN and ask her what she thinks.

Blessings
Lindy

I think I'm going to tell my sister about this and tell her she should speak with her doctor. She's been trying to get pregnant for like 5 or 6 years. She has one daughter but wanted more kids. Her doctor told her to lose weight, but I wasn't convinced that that was the only problem seeing as though I'm heavier than her and I was able to have a baby. I'm glad I came across this thread.
