Cool Well, here we go

Hello everybody,

My name is April and I found this site searching for diet help, and it seems like a great place. I've never joined an online community before...so, please go gentle on me.

I've been overweight my whole life, I have tried to diet a couple of times in the past. One time I was successful, losing over 100 pounds. Then I had a bad accident where I broke my ankles and my leg, and of course I ballooned right back up.

The thing that made me decide to do this diet thing and stick to it is my mother dying. Less than a week before she passed on October 24, 2007 she begged me to lose some weight, made me promise that I would try. She said that I was on the same slippery slope she was on when she was my age. And she didn't want me to end up like her. She was over 400 pounds and a diabetic when she passed, house bound and had to get around in a wheelchair.

I am currently about 330 pounds. I have lost a little since November. I don't believe in scales, so I'm measuring my progress by the fit of my clothes. I started a new excersise program "Walk Slim" two weeks ago and really ago and really like it. I'm not doing the workout everyday, being so tired after work. But I am at least doing the stretching exercises daily. I figure it's better than sitting on the couch watching TV.

I've changed my eating a little bit. But I am a sugar addict and that's the hardest thing for me to control.

Well, I guess that's all. I look forward to hanging around here and getting to know everybody.

April!

So sorry about your Mom.

I think it's great you are exercising! Just add a little more at a time, soon you'll have made a habit of it.

As for eating plan - anything healthy that you can do for the rest of your life is ok by me. (Like you asked )

Looking forward to hearing more from you!
