  • 30 Somethings Weekend Chat Jan. 12 & 13
Good morning everyone! I am up thanks to my wonderful cats - they were looking for attention before 6 a.m. I have never started a thread before - hope I did this correctly...

Joan - my son is 21 months old and into everything! We just moved into a house after renting a small place for 6 months, so he is running everywhere. He is my motivator - tells me to get up off the couch when my workout show starts!

Holli - the meat sale was ok - we have a small version of the store in our town, so I think that the selection was smaller. I was able to get a free roast, pork tenderloin, and hot dogs for DS with purchase of the same stuff.

We are off to a 60th birthday party lunch at a place called Buca - it originated here in MN. I don't think they are known for fat-free selections. In fact, they have huge platters you pass around. We then have dinner at some friends' tonight - I am not sure how good of a day this will be for me! I will try to watch portions and definitely work out!!

Have a great day! Hello to everyone else... Delta Dawn
  • Hi GG - it looks like we posted at the same time. Enjoy your day off!!
  • GOOD SATURDAY MORNING ALL!!

Had three beers last night & fell asleep on the couch!! I was so tired!!

GG~ have a great day off, sounds like it will be lots of fun. Glad things are looking up at work!!

Delta Dawn, sounds like you have a fun day planned too!! I think if you just watch your portions, you'll do fine. The weekends are when I let myself have a little fun. We can't NEVER eat fattening food, right?? We jsut ahve to be careful about it!! Have lots of fun!

CC~sounds like you have alot of running to do as well!! What kind of church do you sing at?? Have fun!!

Tamia~didn't your son have an appt. yesterday?? How did it go?

Joan, Lauren, Lisa, Alicia, Roo, Dawn, TX, Diana, Jasmine, everyone else, have a super day!!

I'm off to take a shower and have to go to the cake store to get an extra-big cake box...one of my cakes(a baby onesie) was a little too wide for the standard box. Then off to deliver the others, and off to my niece's first birthday party. It's very special, cause she has congenital heart defects, has already had three surgeries and is anticipating a few more, but she's the cutest, happiest little thing!! I'll tell you modern medicine is a miracle, the things they have done for little Gracie!!

So, I'm posting pics of th cakes I did this week. Hopefully they'll come over. Have a wonderful day, all!!

  • Very cool Pam. You are good Girl! I especially like the baby onesie one. I took a cake decorating class at the local community college a few years back. Bought all kinds of stuff for the class and haven't done anything with it since. BTW, PM me who you want to still be around come April... I would love to see Edwards get it but don't see it happenin'.

I have four little girls playing downstairs right now so best get busy feeding them. My little one wanted to have a sleepover with her cousins last night for her birthday. They're all floating around here in princess nightwear ~ cute sight to see. Eating was bad here last night. We ordered in pizza plus all of the birthday sweets. Uggghhh. Too much sugar. We're invited to an Open House today and there will be loads at food at that. I plan on feeding everyone a light supper before going so that we won't overeat. Hope that everyone has an excellent weekend.
  • MOrnin' All!

Pam, those cakes are BEAUTIFUL! You are excellent!

I'm cleaning and budgeting this AM. Anyone know where I can get an extra couple hundred a month...I'm about 177 in the hole!

Off to read what I missed! Have a great day all! Oh, don't forget to post your miles by tomorrow!
  • Good morning!!!

Delta Dawn-My DH loves Buca. It is definately a hard place to eat healthy at.

Pam-those cakes are great. My friend makes cakes and she made one yesterday do the bridal shower that was a bust of a girl in lingerie. It was great.

The bridal shower went awesome. My friend had a really good time. She got lots of great lingerie and some fun "toys". We laughed alot.

Today is pretty low key. We are headed out to get some breakfast. The only other things we have planned are grocery shopping and heading to the gym.

    See ya later!!!

    Jasmine
  • Hi everyone! Boy, it's busy around the 30-something forum! Are we dedicated, or what??

I'm feeling some better today....think I may be up to going back to the gym on Monday (Crossing my fingers!!) I'm happy to report that I have lost some...not sure how much, but I have lost a couple of lbs, I think. I think my meds are messing with my appetite. Thanks for all the get well wishes! Sure makes me feel better to know others are thinkin' of me!

to all the new ones we have among us! Glad to see you jumpin' right in.

My DD is ready to go shoppin'....she's 2! I think I've created a monster. She's tellin' me to get ready (I'm still in nighties).

Have a GREAT weekend everyone....be good and eat smart!!!

Scarey drive in this AM. I live about 60 miles from where I work (Alaska is like that)and the roads are a mess due to snow and ice. There was a very bad roll over wreck. Tends to put things in perspective. I learned to drive when I moved here to Alaska, and I am not very sure of myself yet.
Of course the very first thing I wanted when I got here was something with chocolate on it. But luckly the cafeteria downstairs serves full on breakfast and I was able to get scrambled eggs instead.
Warm scrambled eggs feel just as good on a cold winter morning as a chocolate donut. Weird.

Well, not much else going on. This is turning out to be a boring winter. We did not get our usual snow fall, so can't even get a good snow machine ride unless I travel about 200 miles north. Too much snow for four wheeling. too slippery for horseback riding. I know, you're thinking 'with all that stuff to do, how did she get so fat'. I ask mysellf the same question. All I can do is hope we have a good Hay season. Hay farming burns alot of calories!
  • Top of the morning all - or should I say afternoon ya'll?! LOL! Lauren...try to go without the ac if you can; weather is great right now, at least where I am, and if you must use the heater only use it at night when you go to bed, and use the fireplace if you have one when you're awake. Portable heaters are GREAT if you don't have a fireplace. Sorry for the energy lesson...you are talking to a girl who got a 400 energy bill a couple months ago...we moved in to our home, didn't use the ac or heater all month, and our bill went down to? $24!!!! Hooray!!!! So I'd focus on that area, you'd be so surprised! Also, for veggies you are going to cook and if you get fresh, buy them only on sale, then prep and freeze them Okay okay I'll stop hahaha... any more tips just let me know - I have a ton!!!

LOVELY Pam, simply lovely.... you are truly skilled. Beautiful!!!!

Hey Dawn! I love to hear about people saving money, I'm pretty thrify myself That is so awesome! I put the meat market on my calendar for later though...Hailey was getting a bit difficult so we cut our shopping trip short

As for me, my friend who has FIVE kids is coming over tonight hahaha....Lord help me. Seems I spend my life on my knees LOL. But Hailey is excited. On plan so far today, have not exercised; I was up late last night so I'm just not grabbin it yet. I will later though, rest assure! Basically a day of laundry and cleaning the house, oh and I have movies to burn - er - watch before we have to take them back tonight. and I guess I should take down the Christmas decorations out front now huh LOL? We decorated our tree in the front yard cause we have kitters and we don't want fried kitty with the lights.

And to everyone else have a wonderful, wonderful day and remember - every little step you take is a step closer to your goal! (sorry don't have time to address everyone today ) Keep on keeping on!!!
  • Hi all,

Well I didn't get to sleep in because DH decided to be noisey this morning when he was getting ready for work. So I took the kids out to have bagels and donuts for breakfast. I was really good and only had a bagel with a little bit of lite cream cheese and my coffee. I really wanted a donut but I kept thinking about the weight I wanted to lose. Then we went to Wal-mart and Sam's Club to stock up. We have 2 cats that are currently exiled to their room for not using the litterbox. I an not sure which one it is so I rubbed both their noses in it and shut them in their room. I told the kids if they kept it up they would have to go back to the Humane society. I don't want to do that but I won't have them doing their business in the wrong place. I wish I knew why it was happening. They are usually good cats. Over the last few months this has happened maybe a hand full of times. I think it is the older of the two but I am not sure. The kids are watching cartoons and it gives me a chance to get on here. I used the treadmill for almost an hour yesterday. I am not sure if I will today or not. I usually take the weekends off. Talk to you all later.
  • Hi everyone,
It has been a lazy day for me. But then it could be that my dh said some things to me this morning about my Avon business and how to run it that has me wanting to be lazy today. I have been able to run it successfully for the last two years. So I think I now what I am doing by now. Just because three people haven't paid me for their orders yet and he is up in arms. I think I can trust my two sisters and my best friend's mom. Then he goes on to tell me that I don't even really talk to him about anything anymore but my classroom and the afterschool program at school. That maybe we should just split up. Then after he says all that, he realizes what he has said and wants to be able to take it back. I know that alot of it has to do with January is always been a bad month for us money wise. But still his words hurt and I don't know how to forgive him and go on without having the divorce comment always lurking in the back of my mind. So I left after I got dressed for the day and went to get my hair cut and my eyebrows waxed, since I needed both done. Then I went to the lake and took a walk. By the time I came home, he had left to run some errands. So I am just taking it easy and enjoying the peace and quiet. But I didn't let this stess make me eat bad for lunch. I had a Club Sub from Subway, some Sun Chips and a diet coke ( I got to use my gift card from Christmas). So other than that this is my weekend. I guess we have to go grocery shopping either tonight or tomorrow. Tomorrow I am to met my sister half way between her house and mine for lunch at Bob Evans and visit with her for a little while. So atleast I have some to look forward to in my weekend. Then it is back to the busy work schedule again on Monday.
Pam the cakes look lovely! I really especially liked the onies. That was so cute. Enjoy your little niece Gracie's birthday party. They sure are cute at that age aren't they? Hope you can relax a little bit tomorrow after all the baking you have done this week.
Lisa how is the inventory at work going? Hope your week went well for you.
Jasmine what grade do you teach? Sounds like you had a really good time at the bridal shower last night. Enjoy your weekend!
Lauren hope you are having a nice day off! Did you get your budget figured out? So is your new job a full time one or a part time one?
Joan how did the slumber party go last night? Hope you are enjoying the weekend.
Alicia how is the painting coming along?
Hanna could you pm me sometime. I have a biopolar student in my classroom this year and would like some advice on how best to help him.
GG enjoy your day off! Especially your hike with your dh and dog. Bet you are really looking forward to seeing your pony again.
Fighting, sounds like you did a good job of staying on track when you took the kids out for breakfast this morning. Don't you just love shopping at Wal-mart and Sam's Club? I don't know what I would do without either one. In fact that is where we are going to go grocery shopping sometime this weekend.
So Holli hope you enjoyed your day of cleaning house and laundry. What movies did you watch? Hope you got your Christmas decorations taken done too. Enjoy your company this evening.
Diana glad that you are feeling better today. Congrats on losing weight. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to go to TOPS on Tuesday evening and see how I have done for the week. I got the scales this morning to check and they say I am done a pound or two. But I won't count it until I get on
    the scales at TOPS.
Danger, that is a long commute to work. What do you do for a living? Hope you have a good day at work.
Well my bil is here to get some papers that I ran off the computer for him. So I must go. Chat with you all later. Have a great Saturday!
    Take care,
    Kerry

  • Hey Kerry! Well I watched SuperBad LMAO!!!!!!!!!! SO funny....McLovin'! HA! Crazy. James actually raked the whole front yard (he is so not into physical discomfort) - Laundry is going well, still 3 more loads oyyyy. Speaking of which, gotta go start the next one
  • Wow, Kerry, hate to hear that about your husband. Sometimes stress does crazy things to us. My husband and I have both said things out of anger before about splitting up....knowing neither of us meant it. Still, when you're going thru it, it's tough. Maybe some time away from each other today will do some good. I hope so.

Well, I think I've had 11 points today. My antibiotics are really messing with my digestive system. I'll think I want to eat, then when I eat a little, I don't want anymore. Guess that's a good problem to have, huh? Feelin' pukey. But pukey is better than what I was feeling earlier in the week. I'll take this anyday.

Holli, I've done my laundry....and it's all nicely folded....still in the laundry baskets! We have what I call "clothes-putting-up" parties when laundry gets like this. No one seems to think of it as a party except me, though (party because I don't have to do the putting up!!). lol Everyone gets their stuff out of the basket and puts it up themselves.........but you guys probably figured that out. Hope you're done...completely done, unlike me....with yours soon. My kitchen is a disaster area....just haven't felt like cleaning it up. I told hubby I wanted a maid.....then I laughed at myself. RIGHT!!!!! Then again, if I did get one, that'd just take away from some of the exercise I get. Guess I'd be shootin' myself in the foot with that idea.

I get 28 points everyday....it's 4:30 pm and I've had 11 so far. And I'm not even remotely hungry. I think I may just be under budget today....like yesterday. WW says you're not supposed to do that....my tummy can't help it today, though. Guess I'm gonna go figure out supper for the family! Have a great evening everyone!
  • Hey all, thanks for the comments on the cakes. It's just exhausting cause it takes so much time!! But when I delivered them all today, everyone was so happy to get them, so that was nice!!

Kerry, sorry you had a rough day today. Sometimes we say things we don't mean, and it's hard to let it go. Hope you guys are able to talk it out.

Kids are at it with each other...gotta go!
    Pam
