Talking Hi...again

I guess it's been a while since I've been here! It says last log-in was January 25th 2007...Been a while! I'm 20, and I'm from Wisconsin...and I think I've really finally hit my "moment" where I can't take being fat any longer. My inspiration comes from, believe it or not, my dog. Not only have I been carrying around all this extra weight, I've noticed lately, that my dog is as well. This is not only not good for me, but its very bad for him as well. I have a black lab, and labs are prone to being over weight to begin with, and to hip dysplasia. I'm not about to put my dog through that. It's bad enough that I'm hurting myself, but I can't live with myself knowing that I'm hurting my dog as well. So! Whether my poor pooch likes it or not, we're going on a diet, together. If not for my health, for his. He will be put on the type of diet that he needs to be on, and I will be as well. As well as going for 30 to an hour long walks every day. He's a lab and hes high strung, he'll need it and it will be good for me! I have about 110 pounds that I would like to lose. I'll settle for 100, but I'm sure by the time I get that far, I'll really be pushing for that extra 10! I'm so happy to have my dog for work out partner. Honestly, it's crazy. I don't have to listen to him say "I dont feel like working out today" because he'll be BEGGING to go! Just knowing that it will be beneficial to him to go for that walk every day, is enough to get me up off my lazy butt. As far as my diet, I'm planning between 1200 and 1500 calories a day, and planning to take Alli weightloss supplement to help keep me on track, provided that I fit the requirements. I have to do a bit more research on it first. I know it's not a miracle cure, and it's not going to *fix* things, but knowing the side effects, will most certainly keep me on track. I have enough problems, I don't need the added issues LOL!
Well! I just wanted to reintroduce myself and say Hi!

BACK! I hope you find all the encouragement and motivation that you need. Having to walk the dog is great exercise and you have to do it no matter what. He will LOVE it!
I wanted to put my 2 cents in about the calories you are planning on eating. I almost started eating only 1200-1500 calories per day and it was way too low for me. When I started my weight was 220 and I ate an average of 1600-1800 a day and I have lost weight. Have you joined any calorie counting websites? I use www.thedailyplate.com It is really helpful and you can track your water intake and everything else you eat there. So, just wanted to let you know that if you feel like you are starving yourself, you may want to up your calories. Especially, so you can lower them when you lose more weight. I hope this is making sense Oh, and come join us in the 20-something forum. We are always happy to see new faces!

The dog as personal trainer is a fantastic idea. I followed it myself. So HARD to say no to that face when it's walk time. BTW - the dog went from 120 pounds to 90. So it was good for both of us.

Welcome back!

Thanks guys! I have actually joined (whoa i cant say that here...?) a weightloss management site which is where I got my calorie intake information. They were the ones that said I should be eating between 1200 and 1500 calories a day. I thought it was slightly low, since I've done the calorie counting thing before, and I typically was starting out at 1800, but they said thats what I should be eating....idk! I'm actually really proud of myself for "thinking" of the dog as a personal trainer thing. I know I wasn't the first one, but I came up with the idea for me, myself. So I'm pretty proud of myself. You're absolutely right, it's impossible to say no to that face! I have a lab, so he REALLY needs the exercise every day, so I know theres no way I'm going to be able to get out of it, which is great. I have very low will power, so I need stuff to MAKE me do what I know that I need to do. "Needing" to do it isn't enough. But, i know what happens when my dog doesn't get enough exercise, and your right, its sooo hard to say no to that precious face! And he needs the exercise too! I can't wait to embark on our journey!

If the site starts with spark...they were the result of a bunch of spam over here...so their name isn't allowed.

I meant to say something about the calories before. Everyone is different - but I lost pretty consistanty at around 1400 a day. I was walking for exercise. My advice? Try 1500-1600 and see if you lose too fast (as in more than 2 pounds a week). You want to go as high as you can to leave room for when you get close to goal. Below 1200 is not good, and the only other way would be to up the exercise intensity.

Yes, thats the place. I understand now I was just like, whoa weird! But yeah. Perhaps I will bump up the calories. I know under 1200 is not good for the body, and I like minimal exercise....I'm lazy lol. Wait, I just hate exercise! Which is where the dog comes in! Because I HAVE to do it! *runs away to check out calorie counters*
