Slipping Bra Straps!!!

  • Though I'm a plus-size, I have narrow shoulders, small bone structure, and bra straps slipping off my shoulders plagues me! Has anyone discovered a bra with more narrow-set straps that has helped you with this problem? I know I know ... I need to go get a good bra fitting, and that would solve my problems! Thanks in advance ...
  • I imagine bras thats straps cross in the back would do the trick. There lost of convertable bras that should do that.
  • Yup, a good bra-fitting will do wonders for you!

In my experience, skip the department stores and go straight for the specialty bra shops staffed by older women. The kind of place where they can take a look at you and know your size without even measuring, but do it anyways to confirm. Those places usually have something for everyone, no matter your shape or bra size. I've been especially successful at stores that advertise things like a wide range of band and cup sizes, bras for women who have had mastectomy or reductions, etc because they know all the little issues. They are often a little pricier, but SO worth it, IMO.
  • Glamorise has great non-slip straps (I have sloping shoulders) and t-backs are great but I can only find them in underwire - which I can't stand - although Glamorise just came out with one but I have not tried it yet.
  • The curse of the slipping bra strap...I am so well aware of it! Some of us are just 'blessed' with those narrow, rounded shoulders.

Any bra that crosses in the back is what lingerie enthusiasts refer to as a "T-Strap". This type works best with round/narrow shoulders, and should work well for you. Personally, I prefer the T-strap. If you are bigger than a D-cup I would also recommend going to a speciality store, or at least a fine retailer/dept store. Most stores just don't have the variety for people DD and up.
  • I usually purchase bras with non slip straps - I have sloping shoulders. But they can still slip if you're very active.

I have one t-strap bra... I'm still not used to it lol. But I'm sure I will get used to it eventually.
  • These 2 bras are by far the best I have found to keep everything in place for the active lifestyle.

  • I have VERY narrow shoulders, and can only wear T-back (or racer-back) bras. I've found them online from Just My Size, and sometimes Lane Bryant carries them, too. Glamorise is one of the makers. Yes, they are underwires, but I've actually removed the wire from a few, myself! They make the girls hang lower, but feel better for exercising and 'casual' clothes. Hope this helps!
  • I was in the lingerie dept. of Macy's about a week ago and they actually sell something called "strap mate", which you attach to each strap across your back--I've heard of this referred to as the t-strap. The contraption is designed to keep the straps up in place. Kinda strange looking, if you ask me, but it should normally be hidden under clothes like your regular straps. Here's a pic:
  • Thank you, everyone, for your replies. Melekalikimaka, I have a Macy's right down the road so I am going to pick one of those contraptions up. The thing is, I have several Bali bras that fit me perfectly except the darn straps slide off. I just have those narrow shoulders ... I hate to buy a bunch of new bras of a different design if I don't have to. I'll let you know how the contraption works!

    Thanks again, all!
  • Sounds like boobs in bondage.

I hate bras. I'm just starting to wear one again after years and years of going without. I'm finding that a camisole is working better for the oversized chesticles that I possess.
  • Do you sew? Are the straps attached in the back in a way that you can cut them off and reattach them an inch or two closer to center?

Try this one one bra first, of course, before doing all of them.
