im a 19 year old female almost 20 and about 100 lbs over weight i am 5'7" and weight 276 lbs when i was 18 my doctor prescribed me trileptal i am scared to try it because i was told if you dont suffer from seizures you could begin to have them as a side effect. my doctor gave me it for weight loss. has any one tried it for weight loss? or is it only me.

I've heard of people taking seizure medications as a weight loss drug - topamax, which is another seizure medication, has been taken illegally by several people I know who want to slim down.

However, I didn't know that doctors are now prescribing these medications for weight loss, too. Hopefully you will be under close medical supervision. If you do experience seizures with this drug, I would personally say it would not be the best idea to continue. Do you have any obstacles that are preventing you from losing weight, as in any current medical conditions that make losing weight more complicated?
