Default what about medications after surgery?

I take a med that is a capsule, two that are a small pills and then tons of vitamins. The vitamins are easy...chewables...but I will have to continue to take the rest of them after surgery (thyroid pill, hormone replacement, etc.) and my doctor said that there shouldn't be a problem taking the other ones but I take them with about 12 oz or so of water. How do I take them after surgery? One with a little water, then another in 30 minutes? I could be at this all day! LOL

I'm told I won't need the diabetes pill or anything like it but the others are necessary. I suppose I could call the Nutritionist after the holiday. I do have 5 weeks...5 WEEKS!! Holy Moley that is coming fast! (I could have said "Holy Flyin' Time Batman!" but I have already used that joke! )

Is there anyone that can help me with this?

Thanks,

Angela

Angela, I have RA and needed to continue some meds after WLS also. I did 2 capsules (1 in a.m./ 1 in p.m.) 2 small tablets + iron tab that I swallow. I put them all in my hand, in my mouth at one time & drink with about 1/2 c. water. Course I'm continuing to drink liquids all day so I do get more water in. I was told that the results would be the same before as after surgery, and that is what I have found to be true. I was concerned about the malabsorption thing. I also do 2 chewable vitamins, 2 chewable calcium & 2 fish oil capsules thoughout the day.

Good Luck,

I take my usual meds first thing in the morning. They did cut out a couple of them not necessary once I had the RNY, but I also take them with one of my glasses of water when I get up. Then during the day I chew at least two vitamins, and 4 calcium pills. Dr. suggested this since I'll be having knee surgery this month, needing to get in all the calcium I can. After my surgery, I took and still have liquid Tylenol if I need it for pain (headache, etc.)
