Default Jennifer Love Hewitt

So I'm sure everyone has seen a bit of the ruckus over how "fat" Jennifer Love Hewitt has gotten, and the pictures of her on the beach in her bikini.... OK, admittedly, she's been thinner, and by "Hollywood standards" she has a little more shape at the moment than is the so-called norm. But she's far from fat - the worst I could call her, based on those photos, is "pretty normal".

I was neutral on her before, but she's my new hero! She has handled this so well - basically saying that a) she isn't fat, b) being skinny isn't what makes someone beautiful, and c) she has more going on in her life than worrying about every last pound on her body.

This is similar, I guess, to what Tyra Banks did, God love her - went on her show in a bathing suit and said "I'm not a model anymore, so I don't have to look like that anymore, and I still feel hot".

Between these two ladies, and the shapely sex-symbols out there (J. Lo, Beyonce, for example), do you think the tide is turning away from the super-skinny standard? Will the Hollywood sex symbols begin to have a little more shape agian, like they did in days gone by? Not promoting being clinically overweight as a way of life, mind you, but relaxing the standard a bit, and accepting a more normal version of "normal"? Thoughts?

Even before all this commotion JENNIFER was Angie and My date night favorite with Ghost Whisper...she had class before the pictures and still has it now!

Jennifer is beautiful inside and out. A great role model!!! Sorry to say I don't think that anything will change in Hollywood though.

Hollywood is all about who is too THIN then too FAT and not DRESSED well enough and TOO dressed up and WHO has surgery and IS IT ANY GOOD and who is a WRECK...
Personally, I could care less! I wish Ms Hewitt nothing but the best regardless of her body weight and body type. As long as she is healthy, hey...I'll MYOB! Paparazzi, though, and the insatiable public won't, though, and there will never be a return to something that wasn't really there in the first place (i.e. the celebration of normal bodies...)

I'm afraid it will still be culturally/racially divided, unfortunately. We'll still have the Jennifer Aniston's, Lindsey Lohan's, Courtney Cox's, Nicole Richie's, and Heidi Klum's smoking their lungs out to stay skinny, while the smart ones - the Jennifer Hudsons, the JLo's, Queen Latifah, and Tyra say, you know what, this is whom I'm meant to be. Take it or leave it. It probably also comes down to what men in each group are saying is attractive - altho I've never known any guy to like twigs with fake breasts. Most like a little meat on them is what I"ve heard. Don't know why hollywood goes to the extreme........oh wait, most of them are not in long term healthy successful relationships either. Maybe the 2 are related.

I think she STILL looks skinny in those pics. Even skinny girls get cellulite. That's why we have Photoshop lol. I could make a bowl of cottage cheese smooth as milk in a matter of minutes. I am sure you guys have seen picturs of models pre-touch up? Not so pretty.

Needless to say, the whole JLH "Fat" thing is absolutely ridiculous.

Didn't one of her ex-boyfriends write a song about her? "Your body is a wonderland". Like Jennifer said "A size 2 is a size 2"....she is small no matter what. And Hollywood standards get worse each year.
I saw a trash magazine at the checkout the other day....showed pictures with no faces "Guess who this is?", one had a stomach that was very saggy, and lots of stretch marks.....turned out it was Cindy Crawford. Her arms were toned, rock solid, or legs great...so she has had some babies. Big deal.
Also always gets me that in TV shows and the movies --- the cute skinny wives have this big fat husbands. WTH?

Personally I don't care whether she is fat or not. I basically had no opinion on her whatsoever until she claimed that she was a size 2 and that a size 2 is not fat. Clearly size 2 is not fat, but there is also no way that her bottom half is a 2.

If you are going to stand up for the curves are good and I'm normal opinion, then don't fudge your stats. Tell the truth and be proud of it and I'd be backing her 100%. Claiming you're smaller than you are doesn't support your argument.

Yep, John Mayer. And if you look like THIS (below), who really cares what that backside looks like in a bikini, seriously!

John Mayer says Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Body is a Wonderland

Written by fatback on June 2, 2006 –

Although it was widely speculated that singer John Mayer’s jangly pop hit “Your Body is a Wonderland” was about his former flame Jennifer Love Hewitt, he recently confirmed that fact during an impromptu stand-up routine in Hollywood.
Page Six reports Mayer “cracked wise about sex with his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Love Hewitt, during a surprise stand-up comedy set at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood the other night.
The gossip column reports it was told the swoon-worthy crooner showed up with buddy Bob Saget and did a brief set in which he blabbed about bedding the hard-bodied Hewitt as well as a multitude of female fans of his song “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”(source)

I agree with you Robin...she is small but I do not believe her bottom half is a size two...there's no way. A friend of mine wears a 1 and looks like a freaking twig and if JLH wears a two then so do I.

And I too don't really care one way or the other. Unless you are a freaking twig in Hollywood...you are fat. Queen Latifah is my hero!

I just want everyone to remember the forum rules on discussing celebrity bodies.

Also, it is very, very hard to guess a person's size when you are not standing next to them. You can have photos of two slim celebrity stars in a magazine, and they can both be fit, slender, and in the photos-appear to be the same size. This is because the photo is cropped the same size to fit in the magazine.

What you cannot see for yourself, is that one of the starlets is a petite 5'1" in height, making her a size 0 to be proportioned that way...and the other starlet is a statuesque 5'11" in height-making her a size 6 or 8 with the same body shape.

Natalie Portman is a perfect example of this. I have seen her costumes from Star Wars in person, and she is TINY. Not just thin...but TINY. As in, her headdresses look like they would fit the head of a 11 year old girl, and the width of her shoulders and back are very small framed as well. It doesn't matter what weight I would ever get down to-my shoulders and head would never fit into that costume. She isn't just thin-she is SMALL, like a little fairy.

You can't judge someone's true size just from a photo-because you can't calculate their height and body frame along with it.

I think it would be better if celebrities never mentioned their size (whatever they deem it to be) in these interviews. JLH would have been just as effective had she never mentioned the "size 2 is not fat" thing, while making her point. Celebrities from Oprah to Kirstie to Jennifer have all provoked giggles from those in the know when they pronounce themselves a particular size! When will they learn? We all know a customized designer "size" is a far different thing from the sizes the average person wears from JCPenney or Lane Bryant!

Whatever ... I love JLH. She is beautiful and adorable, and so charming in "The Ghost Whisperer."

I wasn't even going to mention the whole "size 2" part of the argument, because really, I don't think it's relevant. Sizes are all over the flipping place these days, so what do those numbers mean, really? I can see the vanity sizing going on when I buy jeans for goodness' sake. If I lose any more weight, I'll be able to by a size 4 jeans at Eddie Bauer, which is ridiculous to me. Size 4 is a "tiny" size, and I'm not tiny, I'm actually pretty average.

Regardless of any size number, I think we can all agree that in those photos, JLH is NOT fat, and if they are condemning her for being fat when she looks like that, how is the average women supposed to feel good about herself?

Someone mentioned racial/cultural lines.... I hadn't thought of it that way, but I think you are right.... the Latin and African-American cultures have maintained some sense about this, and aren't all about the "thinner is better" thing. Maybe I'm not too heavy, I'm just racially challenged.... I'm caucasian, but I'd rather have a figure like Beyonce's than Nicole Richie's any day!

you know your hot when someone can write a song called "Your Bodys a Wonderland" cant get more higher praise than that! if a size 2 is big now, I could care less what society thinks of sizes in general any more, they're insane! if I feel good, then I'm hot! no matter what my size is!

Well, I, for one, thought that seeing her 'less than Hollywood standards' in the backside area made me like her even more!! Now I see her and think, "Now there's someone I can relate to..." AND I love the show Ghost Whisperer.
