oh my, darlin!!! i don't usually check this forum - one of the other mods had to tell me that your post was here! [thanks JayEll!!!!]

here's my BEST advice - call LL Bean!!!! they know everything about them. you need to be able to get them on and off quickly and easily - and that's important because, if you're at all like me, you'll fall. several times. and then have your silly dog jump into your lap because it's all just way too much fun!

and then it's hard to get up unless you get the blasted things off. and then, of course, you need to get them on again.

the longer they are, the more weight they can support [it's a physics thing]. i had to go into a men's size - because no matter what, i'm still not a tiny person. you should expect to sink not more than about an inch [maybe a wee bit more] when you have the right size on.

LOVE the light aluminum frames, by the way.

and, be sure to carry something for balance. i use one of the canes lying around the house, but you can also use ski poles. there are also special, shorter poles that you can use. not sure if they're called walking poles, but they're along those lines.

let me know what happens!!!! it's really fun -

oh, and one more thing. some of these snowshoes - especially the more expensive ones - are really good for ice climbing. but i can't imagine any sane person doing it. BUT, give some thought to situations in which you might need some sort of 'claws' to grip some ice. i highly recommend something like that.

and so glad to help!!! and let me know what you end up with.
