Default Looking for success and diets that work!

Hi there!

I found this forum searching the 'net for diet reviews. It's exactly what I have been looking for and I am glad I have found it. I am looking to lose 30 lbs as quickly as possible. I feel confident that I have the knowledge I need to maintain it once I lose it but to be honest my past is riddled with yo yo dieting. I have never tried forum support before so maybe this will be the extra help I need. Also I am sooooo terrible at exercising and being motivated to do so. ANY support in that area is helpful.

Thank you for reading and please feel free to contact me to say hi, give advice, relate your story, etc. I love people!

Luci

Hi Luci, and

At 3FC, we tend to focus on making lifestyle changes rather than going on "diets" - changing the way we move, eat, and live our lives to be healthier, smaller people. One can go on and off of a diet, but a lifestyle change isn't something you can go off of...you can slip from time to time, but you go right back since you made changes for life. It is the antithesis of the "yo-yo-diet" mentality, because it means we're making changes for good...the basis of successful maintenance.

In terms of exercise, have you visited our Exercise Forum yet? You can find ideas, join group threads, and post your goals. It might be great for motivation.

We have LOTS of success stories in the "Goals" forum - check it out!

I'm glad you're here and hope you stick around so we can get to know you better!

Hi Luci & ^^
I hope that you're able to find a plan that will not only help you become healhier, but will fit into your life so that you're able to continue following it after you've lost the weight you want.

I never thought I'd be the type of person to exercise on purpose. But I had to force myself in the beginning. It was little & it was a challenge, but after awhile I could do more... and more... My 10 minute walks have turned into two 10 minute walks and a 30-45 minute walk a day! Start small, and start searching for some form of movement that appeals to you. It doesn't have to be traditional running or even work-out tapes, it could be marital arts. It could be hiking. It could be synchronized swimming! Anything that you think you might find fun

Best of luck!

Default thanx for support

I know that whole lifestyle change thing. I am trying that as well, lol. My problem is patience and motivation but already from perusing the forums I am gaining inspiration. I can already tell this forum will help a lot. Thanx for your replies!! I really like the weight loss review forum 'does it work?' but now I am off to look at some more success stories, they are the best!

Hello Luci...If these are your motivations, excuse me but you'll fail at the beginning.

First consider that your main goal is not lose weight....You have to live healthier.

Weight loss is only the consequence of following and healthy lifestyle.

Time is an opinion...why lose weight fast if you have an entire life to live?

Hi Lucy,

Welcome! Finding support I think is HUGE in weight loss and management programs. Of course, the old addage is still the best, diet and exercise! I must of tried ALL the diets in the world, then I found South beach.. That works for me and I know it's worked for others... Good luck, and welcome!

Hi Loriann and thnx for welcome,

I've tried South Beach and Atkins both a few times. They worked really well for me also at first but I become unmotivated rather quickly if something isn't simple and easy. Their recipes for me were just too much shopping and cooking effort after awhile. Talk about unmotivated, huh, lol!
Anyway, right now I am sticking to the basic fruits, green veggies and broiled lean meats, eating small portions multiple times daily. Nice and simple. I have just started the counting calories thing which has not seemed too complicated so far with the help of free online sites. I am also trying to focus on getting out and walking my dog for 1/2 hour to an hour. Exercising is the one thing I am so bad with. So hopefully with doing these things I will get somewhere and get to stay there. I explored the site a little bit and the medifast diet actually really appeals to me. I think once I have the cashola I will try it. Has anyone else tried it?

Anyway, thanx all for your suggestions!

Luci
