Default Hi my fellow 3fc'ers!

My name is Veronica and I stumpbled upon this website by doing a search for an LA Weightloss recipe. A little bit about myself:

I am 24 years old, married w/out children. I am 5'2" and weighed in last week at the heaviest I have ever been, 180 lbs. I think I choked when I looked down at the scale and saw that number staring back at me. I have been with my now husband for 9 years this December and while I was only 15.5 when we met, I was a size 3 and weighed 108 lbs. Over the years, happiness and contentment have lead us down the path that we're on and I so desperately need to get back on track.
I've come to the point where I refuse to buy the next size up and I don't want to feel like my youth is passing me by. We also would like to try to get pregnant next year and I can't do it at this weight.
My biggest problems are 1) My husband has a major case of sweet tooth that I constantly have to battle 2) Being Mexican & Italian, I struggle with carb obsession and it's ever presence in my everyday life 3) I hate cooking and doing all the shopping and prep work that accompanies being on a weight loss diet

I really need help and support and I think I might benefit from having a little bit of accountability through this board. I hope that I can meet new friends and share in this experience with all you ladies and this wonderful message board. I look forward to the journey ahead and beg for help along the way.

*Smiles*

We all have obstacles to overcome. You CAN do this. What may help...

Enlist your husband. Let him know why you want to do this, and if he wants snacks & sweets would he please limit them or only buy one for himself? Or hide them away so you won't be tempted that they're out on the counter.

Growing up with certain food types is HARD. Pastas, cheeses, beef... etc. (Mine was always starches like potatoes, and fatty meats in stews and the like.) We CAN limit them. It takes a little bit of adjustment but the best way for me was to simply have more fruits & vegetables on hand. I slowly stopped buying as many starches, and filled my cart with fresher healthier choices. If it's not at my house (and I'm lazy) I'm not going out to get it.

Now this last one may become more tolerable overtime. Maybe you'll even find some recipes you enjoy making!!! However, it's something that needs to be done. Like paying bills or walking the dog... if you don't you end up walking in a big pile of... You can ALSO enlist the help of your husband with this! Ask him to help select delicious healthy foods, and to keep you company while shopping some of the time You may also want to have one preparation day. Every Sunday prepare most of your dinners ahead of time. Then on Tuesday when you don't want to cook you just have to pop the whatever in the microwave or oven instead of preparing it that night! Easy

You CAN do this ^^ Best of luck!

Hello!

Alright. Faerie is right, enlist the help of your husband. If not for weight loss, at least tell him you think it's time to get healthier.

hmmm. Where to start. I would say for the next week, keep a food diary. Don't necessarily start changing those habits, just see what they are. see when/where/what you overeat.

If there is food you can't live without, then include it in your diet. There is nothing wrong with some carbohydrates, or a little sugar here and there. the best advice ever is what my grandma said: Everything is Moderation!

Also begin to incoorporate exercise. Anything you like to do? Walk? Run? Aerobics? Cardio as well as weight lifting are the best options.

Anyway hope that helps a bit. I'm also in the 20-somethings thread (like all the time = my favorite thread area).

Hi Veronica, and

You've come to the right place. The posters above have some great suggestions - enlist allies in your family, make some babysteps, start by keeping a log of what you're eating now so you know where to go from here. Most of all, keep posting! This is a wonderful spot for encouragement and ideas, as you can tell from the posts above!

Can't wait to get to know you better.
