I ordered an elliptical and it's on its way, but I still have a few days to wait. Since I started a new job I am WAY too far from my gym. It's in the opposite direction and would involve a lot of extra driving that I can't afford. So I resigned to start taking walks at lunchtime and after work. Well now that the cold has kicked in, I've started to falter. My toes go numb and my poor nose feels like it's going to fall off out in this weather! Workout videos would be great if we had more than 3 feet of space in the living room. Not much to do other than run in place. It doesn't help that I'm a receptionist so I'm stuck at my desk all day and I can't get up without someone relieving me. I've gained about 10 pounds since I started here. So I found a pretty compact elliptical with good reviews that will fit just right in this tiny, cramped house. It just has to hurry up and get here! I feel so gross lately because I haven't been doing enough exercise.
Well it's here and I have to say it is NOT an easy workout. It's a very different feel than the ones in the gym. It's a Fitness Quest Eclipse 1100HRA. It takes a lot of effort to make the strides, so much more than I'm used to. I ahven't even bothered to put up the resistance yet. I can usually go on an elliptical at the gym for an hour with no problem. This thing had me winded in 5 minutes. I haven't been able to stay on for more than 10 minutes at a time. So far it's okay but things are starting to squeak and I'm hearing a strange vibrating noise when I go backwards on one side...of course what can I expect for $300. Anyway, hopefully I can get used to the motion and start using it for more than 10 minutes at a time!
