Default Newbie From Denver!

Hello all! I found this website and started reading the articles and then stumbled onto the forum, where I just had to join!
My name is Meg and I live in Denver with my husband and our -2- puppies, a Lhasa and a Shih Tzu. I am a student, still finishing my degree in Philosophy and I work full-time in the telecom industry.
I need to lose weight and haven't started a program yet, but am looking through the site to gain inspiration in order to do so! I had back surgery when I was 25 and my GUT weight is something that is not good for my lower back (where I had the surgery) and it would help my overall health.
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself! Hope you all are having a wonderful day! Cheers!

Hey Meg ^^

Good for you for deciding to become healthier! There are many plans and programs. If you look around the site you'll see supporters & users of all kinds! Look through some of the areas and be sure to ask questions. It may take a few, but this is about finding the right program for you. Maybe even forming your own personal plan!

If you're looking just to find out what you're eating in a day at first, you could just track calories. Sometimes it's a perfect place to start to see what you're eating in a day. (Free online calorie trackers like fitday.com are raved about here.)

Keep posting & let us know how you're doing

Best of luck!

Welcome! I'm still trying to find what works for me....right now I'm trying to eat as naturally as possible... whole grains, lean meats, veggies and fruits. Staying away from processed foods as much as I can. I'm trying to learn to eat until I'm full and not past that point. I'm slowly losing weight, but I feel fantastic....better than I have in years. I look forward to getting to know you.

Default Thanks so much! You are all so awesome!

Hey all! Thanks for replying!!! I really should track calories and write down everything I eat. I TOTALLY agree about cutting out the refined foods and going all natural. I think I would feel better and so would my hubby.

So far, I am lurking on some of the boards, just getting a feel for everything. I am glad to see the support that everyone lends...that is so awesome!
Thanks again ladies!! You made me feel very welcome!

Hi MAMA Bear!

It is supposed to SNOW today!! I work at 6 a.m. and my drive in wasn't too bad! But I think it's going to worse by the time I leave at 6 p.m.!!

I love that Denver has 300 days of sunshine a year and being from back East (Ohio), the weather isn't too bad here!! I did 5 winters in Chicago and that was BADDDD COLLLDDDD Weather!!

Thanks for the welcome! Where are you in Ohio? I am originally from the Akron Area (Tallmadge, a suburb!) I have lived in Cleveland, Columbus and Lakewood. I have family in Tallmadge and Berea and great friends in Columbus.

Cheers!
