Default Well, how did Turkey Day go?

Since I'm now in the soft phase of my diet, I had plenty to choose from on Thanksgiving. Had a couple of bites of dark turkey, couple of bites of dressing with gravy and a skinless, seedless cucumber dipped in hummus! The cucumber was divine. I'm craving veggies and apples and the cucumber was great! Took a half mile walk by myself, because everyone else was stuffed! LOL! Played with the grandbabies. Played Nerts and Uno, washed a thousand dishes (so much for that danged dishwasher) and finally for desert, I licked the spoon of the pumpkin truffle. It wasn't all that exciting. My six y/o grandson was my food monitor for the day. I made my plate and sat down beside him and he looked at my plate and said "Your kidding, right Granny!" He was amazed that I wasn't eating very much and the next thing out of his little mouth was, "Did the Doctor say you could eat that!?" We stayed for supper and I had a couple more bites of turkey, a cucumber strip and a black olive. Only brought enough home to pack my DH bucket for the next day and was happy that I didn't go overboard. Hope you all did well and had a wonderful time. Next family get together will be December 23rd and they are already betting on what size clothes I will be in by then. Only one thing.....I think I..um...need some...fiber! I ate a 1/4 Kashi cereal today and hope that helps. LOL!!!

Default Way to go!

LOL, I want in on the betting pool. How much have you lost so far? Keep up the good work!!!

We had a great day, there was only 7 of us so we decided to do something different and we had a pizza party instead of turkey. We made the pizza's ourselves and it was fun with everyone standing around (including the kids) making them. Besides, after I finally get my surgery I will have to give up my favorite favorite food!!!

Love ya

Default Pizza, UMMMMMM!

I found a recipe for WLS patients that uses ground meat as the crust and is full of protein and freezes well. I have been making Tortilla Pizza once a week when my grandkids all bring in pizza so I'm not left out.

Tortilla Pizza
Baja Low Carb Whole Wheat Tortilla 7 carbs; 0 sugars; 4 proteins
Mid's Pizza Sauce 1/4 c. 4 carbs; 1 sugar; 1 protein, use 2 TBSP
Walmart's Pizza Blend Cheese 1/3 c >1 carb; 0 sugar; 7 proteins,
Turkey Pepperoni 14 pcs 0 carbs; 0 sugar; 6 protein

Total Calories for a whole one is 290 calories. And since you can only eat about 3 pieces it would only be about 145 calories. Fat is about 12 for half one. I usually don't use all the pepperoni and put mushrooms on it and red onions. Sometimes I just use all veggies and a couple of olives. And chew the crap out of it. 425 until cheese is bubbly. Don't use a whole 1/3 of cheese on it either. With all the alterations it is less than 145 calories and fat is cut down. If you use 2% cheese the fat and calories would be even less also.

Now get your momma busy and see if she can jazz it up even more! LOL!

Our thanksgiving was lovely and I did get my few bites of dressing and ate some dark turkey meat, a tiny spoon of green beans and a taste of sweet potato casserole. Seems as if I was either running the dishwasher or washing by hand all day and even had to finish up on some dishes this morning. All in all, it was a wonderful day with our new DIL and her extended family. I felt blessed.

turkey day was fun. met up with sis and her brood at the cracker barrel, which i ALWAYS find to be a very very wierd place. ate a little. and my grand plans of a real dinner fell by the wayside. i looked at the 2.5 pound pork roast and realized it wasn't going to happen. so, i cut a third of it off, rubbed it in mustard, plopped it on the stuffing left over from the cracker barrel, and added a couple of tbs of apple cider to the pan. it was FABULOUS. all 1 ounce that i ate!

made the mushrooms and asparagus, and snacked on them before the meat was done [note to self - and to anyone else who'll listen - PROTEIN FIRST!!!]

and three bites of chocolate pecan pie, and i was done!

glad everyone had a good time. NAN - you're doing FABULOUS!!!

No one in my family had time to cook. We went to a buffet at a local restaurant. Luckily we eat there often and they know I don't eat much and why so they allowed me to pay the kid's price. Of course I looked odd when I grabbed a desert plate before heading to the buffet line when everyone else had normal plates.

I just joined - posted on the Lap Band FAQ - but am looking around for the right forum, I guess. Since I haven't had surgery yet, am still stalling about changing my eating habits. Being an emotional eater, that has been a total challenge. One of the hardest things for me is not drinking anything 30" before/after meals - wow! Am SO used to sipping on liquids constantly. So, TG wasn't that much different for me this year (she says guiltily!)
