Hi Everyone!

I'm new here, I'm finally ready to lose weight and feel I've got a positive outlook on it for once. I've got a wonderful boyfriend that has decided to start his weight loss journey with me as well, though he doesn't have much to lose, his support is especially important to me. He tells me that I look great the way I am, but I explained to him that I'm not happy with how I look, feel ,etc. I never had anyone in my life growing up to tell me not to eat a whole bag of chips in one sitting, to eat a little more veggies. I'm ready to commit myself. I think my biggest obstacle will be eating while I'm at work. I work at an airport and we all know the options there won't be good so I've had to gather a list of things I would take to work with me, hopefully I can continue to find things that I like that I won't get bored with. You see I'm a VERY VERY picky eater. I don't like my food to touch or mix.. been this way since I was little. Say you had steak, potatoes and corn on your plate, my boyfriend mixes it all together.. ew. Me? They each have a place on the plate and can't touch nor mix. Anyone else like this?? I don't like a lot of foods that mix alot of different foods together. For example, my salads I like just lettuce and tomatoes. nothing else except dressing on the side. I know I'm weird

Starting Date of Weight loss Journey: I"ll list today as my official date, I feel I'm finally in a place in my life that I can finally put myself first.

Goal Weight: I'll stop when I'm happy with what I see in the mirror.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weight loss: Finding foods I won't get bored with, finding foods for lunch at work and to keep the willpower I've been building up. Hoping to find exercises that I enjoy as well and won't become bored with them.

Following any specific plan: not really, I've got some of the books from Weight Watchers from a co-worker,but not really.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I'm finally at a point in my life that this can be my priority as it should have been all along.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I'm extremely open, ask anything and chances are I will tell.

Shannon,

Looks like you covered just about everything.

Sounds like you are very determined and ready for this. This is a great place to find both motivation and support.

I guess I am kinda like you on the food thing. I don't like certain things to touch - like hot (chicken) and cold (salad), but as for putting things together I don't mind. I am not a real picky eater, never have been, but I am sure that you will find something that works for you.

OMG!!!!!!! LOL! I thought I was the only one who hated cross contamination (that's what I call it) of foods! haha. Eww I hate when my food touches. especially when something is like liquidy and the juice runs into somethine else on my plate! Eww. It so freaks me out. Yay! I am not the only one. Welcome to the boards! I bring lots of fruit in ziploc bags to work, also nuts, granola bars and cheesey rice cakes. I know it's a lot of carbs but I can't eat chicken and salad at my desk. Best of luck fellow cross contamination hater.

Welcome Shannon! Good luck!!! I started this same journey only yesterday officially... I AM AT 214 AS WELL! That's my starting weight and my goal is to be 150 eventually. I would like to lose 15 pounds by New Years. All the luck in the world to you!
