I"m planning a trip in Early Dec to Cali and my friend that I am visiting mentioned maybe going to Disney one of the days. I'm a little worried about rides and stuff, and not being able to fit on them. I would be overly embarrassed if I went to get on, and got turned away bc I couldn't fit. That happened once and it was awful. So, I ask, how do I handle this situation?
This is from mouseplanet in answer to a woman's question about her 300 lb. husband's ability to fit on the rides: "Your best bet to read the individual attraction pages in our comprehensive park guide for Disneyland. Each attraction page has a section called "Access Information" that includes information on health restrictions, ride accessibility (including whether you can go on the ride while in a wheelchair), audio information (is an attraction too loud? Is there a "closed captioning" option on narration?), weight and size restrictions and issues, and even whether service animals are allowed on an attraction. Armed with this information you will know exactly what to expect for each attraction."

I didn't start having problems till I was 270+(I have no clue cause in high school I didn't weigh). Also, it depends on how you are portioned. I know one ride, the fault was in my large boobs and not fat. Whereas a gentleman who was way bigger than me could fit in a ride I couldn't because he had chicken legs but I'm a pear, so you get the picture.
I went to Disneyland a couple years ago and I weighed about 260 and had no problem fitting in any of the rides. Go, have fun
thanks. I only ask bc I went to Six Flags in July and was able to ride some/most of the rides, but on one of them they wanted the lock to go down one more and it wouldn't. So, I had to leave the ride. I'm sure I was a little heavier than what I am now, I'm just not sure by how much.

I've been to Disneyland twice at over 260 pounds. The only problem I had was on a ride that 2 people are supposed to fit inside the car. I asked the girl if both my friend (a bigger girl as well) and I would fit in the car safely & the girl said no & moved my friend to the next car's line so we could ride the same ride.
I say you already had the experience that you had to leave the ride. It happened. And you survived. I think you should just keep it in the back of your mind & if you are concerned, ask. They are always more than willing to help accomodate their guests.
Go! Go to disneyland and have fun and enjoy the company of your friend and enjoy your vacation. I know that would be embarassing to get turned away, but most likely it won't happen. You would regret not going if you didn't, so enjoy your vacation and have a good time. Don't let being heavy stand in the way.
I went to Disneyworld when I weighed at least 320 lbs. I fit in everything except Space Mountain. Yes, it was embarrassing when I had to get up and walk out, but I lived through it. On the other hand, I tried one ride at Six Flags at that same weight. It was extremely tight and I was afraid to try anything else. My husband who was about 230 lbs at the time thought some of the SF rides were small. They all looked small to me. I suspect that if you were able to fit at SF you'll be okay at Disneyland.

that you for all the replies. I fit on most of the rides at 6 flags, a couple were extremely tight and then was asked to not go on the one ride bc I couldn't get it to snap one more time over my chest area. But thanks for all the info everyone, I got some homework to do it looks like. Hopefully it all turns out great.
Hee hee!!! How exciting!!!!
We went to Disneyland in September...it was WONDERFUL!!!! In fact, my avatar pic is me and Hubby on Grizzly River Run in California Adventure
I am 252 right now and am only 5'0". You are 5 inches taller than me, meaning that your weight will be stretched out/up more than mine.
I had NO problem on any ride that I went on...and we had an amazing time.
Disney is very size friendly.
I hope you have a fantastic, fabulous, magical time!!!!

thanks Linda and everyone else. Makes me feel a little better about going and not worrying about if I will fit on the rides. to all of you !!
Lol. I have the exact same problem. I'm going to visit my cousins in Los Angeles mid-December and Disney Land is one of the places in our list to visit. I feel so bad. I keep thinking how on earth will I ever fit in the rides. Not only am I 240ish, I'm also a short little thing, only 5'1". I'm not going to starve myself just so I can lose more weight initially and possibly fit in the rides because I know I'll gain it back real soon. I learned my lesson with that. But I wish I had started eating healthy and losing weight early on instead of procrastinating so much and giving in to my weak will so easily.
Dawn2Dusk, see my post above...you will also be just fine on anything you care to ride! Please don't worry, and just enjoy the magic of being a kid again!
I'm 5'0" and a few pounds more than you and I had no problems whatsoever
