Default Cheat Meal! :(

Hi everyone, I´m kind of new in the weight loss thing and I have a question about cheat meals!
Well, I give myself 1 cheat meal every 3 weeks (I have them for special occations), and yesterday I had my first one. Next monday I complete three weeks but yesterday one of my best friends took her "examen de grado" (BAR exam in Chile, which is oral so you know right away your score) so I decided to use my cheat meal to celebrate with her (she did really well by the way)! We had pizza and ice cream and cocktail stuff and sweets (just imagine a big celebration party).
The point is today I feel awful about myself! I had planned it and everything but I ate a LOT and I feel so so bad. And today I weight myself (I do it everyday) and I had gained 1.5 pds.
I feel so bad today instead of 50 minutes in the elliptical machine I did 90 (today is my study free day so I have time and I put a movie and the time flew),
The question is... will this weight gain stay or it will kind of go with the days...because if every cheat meal I will gain 1.5 pds I will eliminate them because it´s like 2 steps forward and 1 back..

Tks 4 reading and sorry for the lond story..

Stop being so hard on yourself. Your allowed to celebrate occasionally and I think you did well by adding minutes to your exercise. As far as the 1.5 gain it shouldn't stick around. Good job on spreading out your cheat meals.

Hey, it's cool! You went out, had a good time, and had a great meal...no worries! That weight isn't here to stay, as long as you continue on your plan.

Hey there,

It can take a day or two for a big meal to show up. It could be that the 1.5 pounds is just water-imbalance weight.

I hope you won't get into the habit of punishing yourself. It's not necessary. It's best to just get back to your plan right away. But please don't think that you have to spend 90 minutes on a machine because you had a big meal. That just sets up a bad cycle.

Having a cheat meal can stall your weight loss for a few days--so just be prepared for that to happen. And don't make them any more frequent!

That 1.5lbs isn't necessarily from just one meal. And it might not stick around as long as you think it will. Adding a few extra minutes of exercise after your "cheat" day may work out for you. But I don't think there's a need to overdo it.

Or perhaps this is a lesson learned that on those days you plan to eat things that are a little celebratory that you just need to eat a little less of them, or make sure to have a filling meal of vegetables before hand.

That 1.5 will be off before you know it. Just keep working & remember: right back to your new healthy normal!

No worries, that weight shouldn't stick. It's mostly a combo of water weight (for lots of people, cheat meals usually include processed foods, after all, which are sodium-laden) and the weight of the food itself, since it hasn't been completely eliminated yet (yeah, poop does weight something ). Don't beat yourself up about it. Given the time, you'll anyway 'learn' what you can eat without overeating on your 'cheat meals', what you need to avoid, etc.
