Default Do you have mini-goals???...if so...what are they?

I have a few mini-goals I've set for myself throughout my journey.

The first mini-goal was to be under 200 by New Years. I've been consistently dropping 3 lbs. a week since Sept. and I figured I could achieve this. However, I'm beginning to think it's unrealistic, therefore it'll have to change.

My next few mini-goals are:

February 16, 2008 - 179 lbs. - BMI: 29.8 – No longer OBESE!

April 26, 2008 – 149 lbs. – BMI: 24.8 – NORMAL!!!

May 31, 2008 – 135 lbs. – BMI: 22.5 – ULTIMATE GOAL!!!

I would like to achieve these goals, but if I don't, that's fine too. Just as long as the weight is dropping and I'm getting healthier at "healthy" pace, it's all good with me.

My weight has been so slow to come off (I'm nursing, so can't cut my calories TOO much or exercise TOO much) that setting time limits has been so discouraging. So my mini goals have been (1) get under 190 (done yay!). (2) get under 180 and stay there (there and working on it yay!). (3) get to 170, pre-preg weight, (4) get to 157, wedding weight. I would be happy to get to 170 by New Year's. I have all these cute clothes in my closet that DON'T fit! That's a minigoal!

Talking Mini-Goals

Let's start with 15lbs by New Year's (since I've already lost 3lbs, thats attainable), to be at 169.

another 20 by March 31st, to put me at 149lbs

and the remaining 14 by June 30th (my 1 year wedding anniversary) to be 135lbs.

That is so achievable. If I see faster progress (now that dr took me off b.c. pills), I'll update my goals.

But for now, this will do.

I'm the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding and my first goal is to be 145 for the big day. I'm 149 right now and the wedding is on November 10th. It will be close!

My next goal is to be 139 by New Year's Eve. I have a feeling that weight loss is going to be really hard by the time I get that low so a month and half ot lose 5-6 lbs seems pretty realistic to me.

I want to be between 130 & 135 by Valentine's Day. I just want to maintain within that range. I don't want to be below 130 and I don't want to be above 135 ever ever again. Unless I'm preggo some day.

My ticker is my mini goal.

I'd like to be 145-146 lbs by the time I go home for reading break (UVIC gives us a few days off) which is Nov. 11.

2 weeks and a bit. :S We'll see what happens.

I am a special educator... so, I am all about benchmarks! I figured to lose 10% of what I had left to lose every two weeks... that way the amount to lose gets smaller as you get closer because it does slow down. I have achieved each goal... well, the first I was a day late, but that's OK... I've been early on all the others and I feel like it's attainable... and it can be adjusted. I get so proud with each little goal I hit. I also have certain points when I want to be a certain weight... with prizes like highlights, a new shirt, OPI nail polish, a plane ticket to see my DB!!!! This is probably the most successful I've ever been... probably because I'm being more realistic!

I'd like to lose 10 pounds in the next two days... just kidding

I'm very finite-goal oriented, so I like to set daily goals. Of course losing a pound a day is ridiculous, so I calculated how many calories I would need to lose 0.2 pounds per day. This turns out to still be within a healthy net calorie limit, and enables me to say at the end of the day, "I lost a fifth of a pound," which is just another unit, so it feels like progress. It turns out that my calculation does reflect reality, which also is encouraging.

Oh, readyfreddy, I am with you about the all or nothing attitude. It's so easy to toss everything up in air when I've eaten a slice of bread too much. If the day's not going to be perfect, I might as well give up... it's so frustrating to be an extremist and a perfectionist!

My mini-goal began as hitting 199 by the end of the year. I didn't work as hard as I could have; so I'm pushing that goal into 2008 ... but I'd love to have a complete transformation ... within 12-18 Months

so ... now it's ...
1. 30 pounds before the end of this year... I started ... in Sept ... and that is based on my weight freshman year 215 lbs ... 4 years ago!

then ...
2. My Onederland dreams of 199lbs

3. My Healthy BMI Weight... and Size 8 ...140lbs

4. My Ultimate Goal ... 130lbs

My mini-goal is to get into the 180's by Thanksgiving. I just started dieting last week so I'm hoping I will lose fast and be able to drop 10 lbs in 4 weeks.

I have a lot of mini goals (each week to be two pounds lighter). The ones I'm looking forward to the most are: #1- 124 lbs by Thanksgiving. #2- 114 lbs by Christmas. And my final goal around the end of January.

You also said you think your goal may be unrealistic. This might help. When I start a new diet, this is the first thing I do:
1. take the number of pounds you want to lose...
2. multiply that number by 3,500 (how many calories are in a pound, you'll now have the number of calories you need to burn to get to your goal weight)...
3. take the number of calories and divide it by the number of weeks in which you want to lose weight (this will give you how many calories you need to burn each week)...
4. take that number and divide it by seven (this gives you how many you need to burn each day)...
5. then, google BMR calculator and find out what your bmr is (this is how many calories your body burns in a day to keep it functioning)...
6. notice your bmr will change with your weight, make a chart of weight (I do a different collumn for every five pound's difference)...
7. take the number of calories you want to eat in a day and subtract your BMR number from it (this is how many calories you have to burn in a day, not including your BMR, in order to lose weight).
8. then, look online to find some sort of exercise calculator that will tell you how many calories certain activities burn (this also changes with weight).

good luck, all
