I have been trying to loose wt for years now, and i can't seem to ever get to my goal wt. I get upset easily and throw in the towel b4 I give myself a chance to accomplish my wt lose goals. I recently joined Pure Wt. lose program and I seem to keep failing. I lose 4 lbs gain 2 back. Please help me, give me some sugestions on how to stay the course w/o falling off track b4 I reach my 80lb wt lose goal:
The only thing that motivated me was when I injured my knee and couldn't weight-bear for over a week. A friend said, "Why don't you just give in and get yourself a walker." Dr. said, "You can't put off losing weight any longer." I was in so much pain and feeling SO disgusted with myself and so afraid I would end up using a walker and never stop, that I finally decided to JUST DO IT!! Maybe you have to hit rock bottom, before you get things in gear for good. Since Jan. 07 I've lost over 50 lb. Everyone's motivation is different. What will it finally take for YOU to JUST DO IT? Figure that out and you're already half way there.
It Tee,
I just recently losed my husband of 18 years, but had been together a total of 24yrs. and he died suddenly and I'm so stressed right now. Trying to manage my household by myself is rough. I am a full time nursing student, and have two teenagers, and two young adults. I joined Pure Wt. Lose in July and have only losed 15lbs. I felt as though I had to do something about my weight, b/c I started to think about my life and what if something tragic happened to me, and my kids would be w/o a father and a mother. I wonder if I jump into this weight lose thing too fast, b/c I'm on a emotional rollercoaster. I graduate from school May 10, 2008, which is my husbands birthday, and I want to be at least 150lbs. I'm at 215.4 right now, and I seem to be stuck, when my husband died I losed 15lbs. the first month due to not eating; I had know appetite. I started off at 238lbs. Please cont. to write to me so that I can get more motivated about losing wt. I need to start exercising but I can't seem to get off the couch:
Finding the time and motivation to exercise is so hard, especially managing a household by yourself. Do the kids living there help out? You'll have a much easier time of finding the hours in the day to exercise if those kids are taking care of some of the household management...cleaning, cooking, etc. Maybe you could make this a project together! You can take turns cooking healthy meals, plan your food for the week together, take turns grocery shopping if they are old enough to drive, etc. Letting them take over some of the family responsibilities will help you a lot when it comes to finding exercise time. The motivation to actually do so will be easier to find if you know that your other household responsibilities are taken care of.
I know the kids are teenagers, and I don't know what their personalities are like, but I used to have "one on one" time with my mom on long walks. Especially if I was going through a rough time, that was really valuable time. Maybe one of the kids will go on a walk with you once a week? Thats four walks a week, and you not only get your exercise in, but you get time with each of your children. You don't have to talk about anything serious, but you can talk about your day, how you're feeling, etc. Great parent-child communication in addition to the exercise.
Keep posting, not just in this thread, but everywhere on the boards. There are tons of folks here with brilliant ideas to share.

You are certainly going through some rough times. Congratulations on making the decision to do something positive for yourself. Undoubtedly, you are going to fall off track many times before reaching your goal. The "secret" is to just pick yourself back up immediately and keep going. Recommit to this journey each day and keep putting one foot in front of the other. One day, you'll look up and realize that you've come a long way.
