Default A flexible routine?

Over the next two weeks, I am going to be working the early morning shift instead of the afternoon shift. And, after that, I am going to be traveling to visit DH's family.

I don't know exactly how to fit in my walking. My plan is to walk when I get home from work - I don't see any excuse for not doing it, but I am not sure what to do about the traveling. I don't want to make a big deal out of "my exercise". I may not be able to do just what I do at home, but I want to be sure that I do at least something every day for a few minutes.

I know some folks like to vary the scenery during their walking. I like the set routine - it comforts me and I can think/meditate/daydream while I am walking. Changing the routine upsets me. Poor me.

One thing I have mastered, for now, is the food. The solution? BRING FOOD and eat it instead of bad stuff.

When I travel, I take my WATP dvds with me along with my laptop (a portable dvd player would work too). I TRY to get outside and enjoy the scenery (I actually LIKE to walk in different settings and see new sights). If that proves difficult, I have my dvds as a backup plan.
Some light weight routines would also be easy to take along and do discretely in your room.

I agree 100% about the food - I always take it with me, or hit the grocery store right away and buy my own.

Yes, just walk after work instead of before. Or, if you get home tired, schedule the walk for before dinner.

There must be places to go and things to see while visiting with the family! Maybe someone would like to go for a walk with you. Or, if you visit a mall, that's a great place to get some walking in. No need to make it a big deal--no announcing "I MUST TAKE MY WALK"--just go out and do it.

Good move on the food! Always helps to have some backup foods with you in case what's in their house won't work well.
